Official Game Thread - Week 16 - Commanders @ 49ers

I'd love to earn more money on this team here than I already have at the sportsbook. Any action for playoff chances? We can bet on qualifying, winning a game(s). What's your fancy?

This game was a long shot, but I always hate when you stupid your way to a loss.

Wentz only looked halfway decent because it was garbage time and they weren't pressing. Even then he almost threw two picks and looked like the bum he is.

All we did in benching Heinicke was declare we are showing our bellies and giving up the season. If they do that on that level, I'm doing it on this level.

It’s a tough uphill end to the season but I don’t see what is gained by wallowing in it. Not like we haven’t weathered worse.

Missing Kam Curl really hurt today. I’m sure someone knows the stats, but it seems like there were more big plays today than the last 5 games combined. I know on the McCloud TD, Reaves took a bad angle. I’m not blaming him for the loss, I’m just using one example of where Curl would have been in there.

At least our weaknesses are really easy to define. O-line and linebacker.

I’m allowed 24 hours post game to wallow.

As I will after the draft and FA period when we don’t seriously remake the offensive line, but that will be more like 24 weeks.

At least let Howell get some burn these last 2 weeks. Browns game should be competitive, and Dallas is locked in and will sit starters in Week 17. Those two games could be useful.

When you've been hit in the face for 20 years repeatedly, even a glancing blow can be the knockout blow. I'm tired, bro. We're now about to play the browns and I live in Cleveland country.

You left out coaching, culture, lack of team depth, QB, TE, CB, and K, plus others that I've probably forgotten.

But Washington has Cleveland at home in a must-win game.

Oh, wait…

I'm going to pray for another snowstorm up here so I don't have to watch it with anyone!

I think that's overkill. Slye's actually been decent. Corner has been good, but you're right. We have no depth. We traded Jackson for nothing (a net positive) and then when St. Juste got hurt our depth went to heck. Tight end looked so promising at one point. Somehow, I want to believe the lack of production is more about quarterbacking and rookies being rookies. Amari Rogers actually flashed nicely before he got hurt.

That said, after a loss, I can go with everyone sucks.

Looks like we might be on our way to our third straight seven win season under Ron Rivera.

If we were playing the slot machines, we would be in business.

Unfortunately, this is football and we are the definition of mediocre.

We’re all tired. I get it.

A game we were over matched and out coached and it'd have been astounding if we won. We didn't, am I disappointed, no, do I think Taylor should see the field again this season, nope. Dude is capt fumble at the worst times and just doesn't have an NFL arm.

Yesterday was different for me. I predicted we'd fall 30-17 or something like that - which is about where it landed. My power was out up until a couple hours pre-game and as Om told me, it might've been a blessing had it stayed off. I did have the game on, but being Christmas eve and prepping dinner I wouldn't say I was 'watching', but more had it on in the background and was keeping tabs on it. I'll have to watch the full game without distractions this week. Looked to me like we hung in there in the first half, although again we opted not to take easy points that were there for the taking. 2nd half looked like a total collapse and TH making critical mistakes. I only watched Wentz for the one drive but he looked sharp. I felt like we needed to make some changes to have any chance to beat the 49ers, and of course 'Riverboat' never makes a change until it's way beyond obvious he needs to. I think he may have an overgrown sense of loyalty to his players, because he seems very reluctant to pull or sit ANYONE for performance. I honestly think he'd rather lose games than hurt someone's feelings.

I didn't expect us to win on Saturday. 49ers are one of the best teams in the league even with a JAG at QB and we looked like what we are... a very shaky team with a bad OL, marginally competent QBing, and very average in-game coaching. I sort of have the feeling we will win the last 2 for some kind of pyrrhic playoff appearance. But basically as burgold and others have pointed out, the best thing about 2022 is that it likely spells the end of the Dan Snyder era, and may also spur some major coaching changes.

This team has some young talent. That's really all we've got going for us at this point.

Not sure I agree with Wentz being better. You could see the play calling changed when Wentz came in, and the niners were already so far ahead they were in prevent. Even then he almost threw two picks.

He also only threw the ball a few times less for less yards and one less TD. That, to kez reinforces that Turner isn't calling good plays for Taylor like he is for Wentz. I'm not calling Taylor the answer, but we now have a QB who's been benched and a QB who's proven he doesn't have what it takes ...all while scratching the rookie.

These coaches suck.

The one thing I noticed, but who knows if it was real or not, was that yesterday Wentz spread the ball around more. Once he came in some balls went in Samuels direction, to the TE, to the running backs. Seemed like Hienicke was only looking at one or two receivers. It feels like a long time since we included Samuel in the passing game.
