Official Game Thread - Week 15 - Commanders @ Saints

If the NFL is actually watching they'd catch some of these refs point shaving these games but maybe that's what they want. The league went from No Vegas influence at all, supposedly, to a total free for all, except they don't want the players in on it. The players might screw up their screw jobs.

If that's what it is, but the game rules make it too easy to fix games. If you're going to not call PI or OLine Holding 1/2 the time and only call them on one team then just allow it all the time. Or fine the refs for missing obvious calls. They are quick to fine players for screwing up. If the rules are too hard then change them or add more refs.

I mean, I hate to support the Eagles but in that SB vs the Chiefs their CB barely pulled the waist of the WR at the end of the game and it was PI and it cost the Eagles the SB, in our game McLaurin was mugged and no call. Which one is it? Get consistent or get rid of the rule if it's too difficult.

I agree. I do think that PI should be reviewable. Maybe that'd be tough, but questions of "was the receiver struck before the ball got there" and "did the defender grab and restrict movement" are really easy to see on camera. Maybe the judgement factor about what degree of hand fighting and who initiated it would make it trickier, but every season there are several really crazy calls or noncalls that change the course of the game in too big a way

The refs almost cost us the game several times. If they had called the PI: the game is over. If they don't call the roughing calls, the game is probably over. If they don't play shenanigans with the clock, if they don't penalize BSJ for brushing his hands against a facemask, if they calling roughing when the Saints hit Daniels around the head and neck... if they didn't close their eyes to several egregious Saints' holds...

That's the thing about this game. You could pick more than a dozen screwy moments where the refs did a hell of a lot worse than putting their thumb on the scale. Honestly, that crew ought to face suspensions.
I've been calling that the worst officiated game I have ever seen, without hyperbole.
