Official Game Thread - Week 15 - Commanders @ Saints

Marshon pitched a shutout today. He will have a dog fight next week.

And thank goodness it won’t be st booty juice (nod to Rio Robinson) one on one with AJ Brown next week.
 
We were out doing Christmas related stuff today so I had to track the game on my phone. I thought we were going to pull away when it was 17-0 but they let them hang around. I was home in time to see the refs miss the blatant PI on McLauren and then the extra 3 seconds the Saints got at the end among others. Our team really needs to learn how to close out the game. Frustrating that we are 9-5, but it feels like we stumbled into it. Welcome to the world of increased expectations.

Quinn wasn’t happy either. But took the high road.

I now wish an infected hangnail on his dominant hand on Rizzi.

Hopefully Tyler B and Cosmi and the rest of the team get rid of this bug that has infiltrated the team too. Cosmi was able to play thru it. We’ll see how he is this week
 
Here's the rub: this was an egregious officiating crew who made several bad calls. We see this repeatedly over the course of this season. Luckily, we hung onto winthis game.

However, the NFL needs to fix this problem before it costs teams. But let's not kid ourselves, we should have won this game by big numbers. We were sloppy on offense and did not make plays that we normally make. Where was the running game?

Defensively, we allowed a rattlesnake to look like an all pro. Have to do better if you wantto reach the next level.

Either way, it's Feebles time. Let's hope the team regroups for those assholes.

I'm sure kdawg could explain it better than I, but our defense didn't adjust properly for baby rattler. I'm disgusted at how our d allowed this scrub to go all pro on us. HTTR!

Classic loser coach. He got the benefit of a game changing, inexcusable call, yet complains about the officiating that went against him.
 
It's December, and you are fighting for a playoff spot with a roster in year one of a massive rebuild. Please don't complain about style points. We got the win and we inch closer to our goal of qualifying for the playoffs. Washington teams of the past lose this game 10/10 times and we as fans are sick for the week. Be thankful, enjoy the win, and enjoy the process.
 
That was one of the worst officiated games I've seen in quite some time. From the outset they were a part of the game, and never relented until the very end of the game. They should be sanctioned.
For as good a Jayden was, and he was awesome for the most part, I thought he was the main reason on at least 4-5 of the sacks. He had the ball over 3 seconds on a bunch of them, get rid of the ball young man!
We got lucky to get the W, happy to come home with the win.

He teetered between outstanding and rookie. He held the ball at times and took too many sacks.

He missed Terry on 3 kill shots. One was a bit on Terry who slowed up.

He also evaded pressure and made things happen with his legs, had a super high completion percentage, didn’t have a turnover and almost willed the team to victory.

I think I’d say he had an above average game because of the missed deep shots + sacks offsetting some truly great play otherwise.

However, let me put this in context: this game was probably better quarterbacked than any game I can remember from 2018-2023. And it might have been JD’s 7th best game of this season. That’s how far in front of what we’ve had he is.
 
I think not having our starting center out there was a big factor in this one. The snaps were often late or poorly executed, Daniels got a lot of pressure up the middle, and despite doing enough good things to get us the win, he wasn't completely comfortable back there for most of the game. He took off way more often than I would've liked, took a lot of hits, and missed some throws he makes 9/10 with better protection and a more stable pocket. I chalk a lot of that up to having a far less talented guy in the middle of the OL yesterday.

And yeah, some of those calls yesterday were just jaw-droppingly bad.

I sometimes wonder about this. Does the Saints coach not realize how favored they were? How many points the refs stole from Washington? How many times they looked the other way when the Saints did anything wrong? How many freebies the Saints got?

Maybe it's human nature to ignore your blessings and only count your curses, but I'm not sure how anyone can look at that game and think the Saints were hurt by the refs.
 
It just feels good to not be the national medias punching bag. We're normally talking draft position this time of year, but instead here we are fighting for a playoff spot. Yeah this was ugly, we got another lucky win, but I don't care, winning is better than losing, and regardless of how this season ends, we have actual grownups and professionals running this organization now.
 
To be honest that game put me in a bad mood all night. I was upset that we were an eyelash away from blowing a 17-0 lead to a team like that and it still bothers me. After a win I always watch it again after the wife goes to bed. I just didn't have the desire last night. I have to agree with Boone that the loss of Badass had to be a huge factor as most of the pressure and run stuffs occurred from up the middle.

I don't know enough about this but it appeared as if BRob had a bad game, he appeared to be running into the backs of blockers several times.

Why are our receivers not getting open? I'm curious from the posters who were there if this was the case or was Jayden hesitant to throw? On a few of the sacks they showed it from behind and his receivers had their backs to him as they were running deep patterns. What has happened to the mid range passing game? Seems like they throw a ton of short passes and take a few deep shots. but those 12 yard completions between the numbers are money and they have lost those.

I was outraged at the no-call on the clear PI on Terry's last dee[ ball. But just so frustrated that they were so close on 3 deep balls and missed them all, any one of them would have ended the game.

I was more outraged when the clock stopped. However I have done this 5 times now and they were only given an additional 2 seconds so they did have time for the spike even without the ref screw up. If you start counting at 10 seconds you will get to 6 when the clock started at 8. That's only 2 seconds. But still that should NEVER happen. Did the ref think he was doing a college game? Why on Earth signal for a clock stoppage after that completion?
 
Have we won the toss for 14 straight games? Seems as if we are always getting the ball to start the 2nd half every week, which of course I prefer.
 
A point I took from Keims podcast

He thought St. Juste was only in on 2 plays in the first half and possibly only one in the second. And of course the latter one resulted in the usual penalty. He touched on just how much his hands are always high and grabbing causing many of the Hans to thee face and interference calls. It seemed like this guy was pretty good in his first two seasons, WTF happened to him. Thank goodness we now have a top CB to match up with Mikey.
 
It was interesting that Crowder just returning had more impact than McCaffrey. I was hoping he would get more looks yesterday. Next week Osborn will be added to the mix, not sure we are going to hear much of Lukes name anytime soon.

With there being a good chance Ertz is out this week, maybe this will allow Daniels to get comfortable with Sinnott
 
I thought McCaffrey showed some pop on kick returns. Looked pretty close to breaking some big ones.
