He probably knows that this isn't the same as before. He probably will still have to compete with Darnold next year because the Cats did initially make an investment in Darnold.

Carolina is the only place Cam will work. They have memories of him being great, so when he is just ok or bad, they won’t care. I’m in a fantasy league with several panthers fans and they were going on and on about how well Cam played. Yet they lost and he couldn’t make a play when they needed it. That’s why it will work in Carolina. They see the TD run and the dance and all that and think glory days are here again. But they lost and will probably lose some more, the fans will just have more fun losing this way.
