I so wanted a Jessica Simpson/Carrie Underwood national anthem duet and honorary captains while Romo was QB of the cowboys.

Total missed opportunity.
 
I know the Steelers aren't what they were a few years ago. But this is the kind of well coached team with a great defense that I worry about at this point in our rebuild. One that can shut down our scoring and are just good enough to put up enough points to win especially if we can't defend the run better.
 
Their offense resembles ours a bit, just with a much worse QB--they have one receiver that's dangerous, a good TE, and a good running game. Daniels is just 1000x better than Wilson. Steelers are also coming off a bye week--Tomlin has won 7 straight off the bye (I believe) and is 13-4 I saw. I think we'll lose the next two (and Eagles fans will be more insufferable than they already are.)

I like the defer til the 2nd half that they have been doing. I was talking about this with my son vs the gmen ( he isn't so patient and wants the ball NOW); if we force a punt on their opening possession, we get the ball with it waiting for us at the half too. Huge advantage and we have been making the most of it. I feel like we have done a good job of ending the first half with the ball and getting it to start the 2nd several times this year. Has helped us establish control of the game.

Even if we give up the opening td, our offense has done such a good job scoring on most possessions, I feel confident we can score right back. Then reset and try to force the punt again to gain the advantage. I hope we defer every time whether the opponent stinks or not.
 
Bill, I agree - especially because Jayden is SOOO good on 2 min drills and coming out after the half. That has often meant we have a really good chance to score both on the last drive of the 1st half, and the first drive of the 2nd half. I love that.

Yeah it has it's advantages for sure. I just felt like we needed to come into our big tough matchups (Ravens for example) by letting our offense set the tone...this of course, was before our defense has started to play much better.

They've literally scored in 34 of 36 quarters, one of the 2 they didn't was when Daniels was pulled while smoking the Browns the other was the first quarter of the first game of the year.

That is definitely an NFL record.

This team's offense and rookie QB is just ridiculous.

Agreed and disagree.
I agree about the offense...but I don't see how past performance is an accurate barometer of the future. If that were the case, history says something like teams that win with a walk off TD are 1-7 the following week. No rookie QB has swept the Giants since 1950. I think we beat Pittsburgh....but I'm not so sure about Philly....

I reckon that's the JD effect too. LOL

But I do love the chance for the double dip across the half. It's a powerful potential game breaker now we have a QB in which I trust to score more often than not.

As for the Steelers, I think it's the coaching that worries me more than the players. We've really played some bone head coaches lately and they've helped us win to an extent. Daboll made some bad choices last wee, and I think enough has been said about the Bears. But the Steelers (like the Ravens) trend towards being solidly coached. They'll be disciplined which means we'll need to be too.

Fortunately, I feel like we're a well coached outfit across the board this year too. I'd be hard pressed to really look back over the season and pick apart much of what our coaches have done.

The Giants suck though and Tomlin is no Daboll--especially with an extra week to prepare.
 
Steelers have struggled to score in 2024 some, averaging 18 points per game. They have had a pretty weak schedule to face to this point so I tend to think their offense is nowhere near as good as ours. Defensively they are for real, although far better against the rush than the pass. Key is putting major pressure on Russell 'the flake' Wilson, and scoring TDs on offense. 30 or more points and we win.

Tomlin is smart, but so is Payton, who ditched Russell Wilson despite still paying him about 40M this year.

Wilson is going to be doing some dumb risky turnover worthy stuff. It's up to our Def to take advantage.

Meanwhile our offense is breaking records in not turning it over and scoring in 34 of 36 quarters played so far this season.

They just need to make a few of them touchdowns.
