Official Game Thread - Week 1 - Giants @ Commanders

Yes. I was rather critical of Lattimore last year, but he looked pretty good today.
Truth, if there is any crow for me to eat this week, it's my predictions/fear of Lattimore being his own worst enemy. Who knew that DBs could look back and play the ball?

Well to be fair to Lattimore he was on the Saints injury list when we traded for him.

So, any thoughts of a shutdown corner popping out of the box last year were premature.

Michael Davis was the worst move Peters and Quinn have made so far. He didn’t contribute a damn thing in his one season here.

Daniels is still the clear winning choice from 2024 draft.
Did you see the reports out earlier this week about how Chicago looked into buying the VR tech JD uses, but didn’t because Caleb won’t use it.
If that’s true it shows a fundamental difference in attitude. One is a QB who is dedicated to his game and wants to do anything in his power to be the best…one doesn’t.
I think we definitely drafted the right guy!

My Dad and I used to have a tradition if getting wings and pizza on week 1 together...

But then even games we were Favored when we did that we'd lose so we stopped.

I insisted we try again, either the curse was broke because of Daniels or the curse is real.

The curse is broken, but not because if Daniels...the whole team is better...running game, run defense, secondary, oline. Terry not being in camp helped Deebo, who indeed is the truth.

Different guy whose name involves "Dan" who led to the curse being broken.

My Dad has been dead since 2005 I miss watching the games with him . I remember the 72 season as the first one I have memory of . But I also remember every game in the 3rd quarter of every game if my dad didn't get mad at me for complaining about something - a player mistake the refs act something it seemed that we would lose the game . So every game after half time my dad would kick me out of the basement for 10 mins.... It became a running joke .

Just such a sloppy offensive performance that left me unfulfilled. The Giants were there for the taking early and they just could not stop shooting themselves in the foot. Too many penalties, Conerly is going to need help until he figures it out and Jayden missed more throws today than he missed in a month of games last year.

But I'm confident it will be worked out. The scheme works, they had open receivers but did not convert their opportunities. Hard to say if it was our DL or their pathetic OL but that matchup decided the game. When Wilson took that big shot I was glad he got up, didn't want to face the rookie who could have given them a bump. I was pretty confident Russel Wilson was not going to beat us.

Kinlaw, Payne and Wise were close to dominant. JCM did what we expected him to do when given the opportunities, opportunities I did not think he would get today. Not a chance Brian Robinson scores on that play. Corners were solid and the defense was really good all day.

I agree JD overthrew, but Terry seemed slow to me. They’ll get back in sync.
I couldn't really tell, but it wouldn't be even remotely surprising if Terry isn't remotely in game shape yet. And won't be until the end of September. I don't care how much work you do on your own, if you miss the entirety of training camp, all the reps and practice reps, it's going to take some time to get back into football shape.

We did and they aren't the same team that they were last year.
Losing both coordinators can be tough to overcome.

I think they'll rebound but i dont think they'll come close to repeating what they did last year, at least in the regular season anyway.
We also have to remember that Jared Goff isn't nearly as good as he's looked the last few years with that asshat reprehensible Ben Johnson as coordinator. He put Goff in situations to succeed, which I credit Ben Johnson for (even if he is the scum of the universe).

Without Johnson, I predicted Goff is going to revert back to the QB who Sean McVay jettisoned.

Same thing for Drake Maye. Might want to hold off on that order of annoiting oil for those two.
I didn't watch either Nix or Maye's games, but I did see that Maye threw the ball 46 times. That's a lot of attempts.

Also, week one is completely wonky every year. Week 2 almost always is an over-correction. And then by weeks 3 and 4, things start to settle down.

I think that's a catch for DET, that left heel taps before his butt hits the ground.

Refs cant figure out what a catch is the lions receiver just caught a TD and they said it was incomplete

My dad passed away 15 months ago. I miss watching games with him so badly. Today I looked over at my 24 year old son sitting next me watching the game and thought to myself "the circle is complete". My son stayed a Skins fan through the absolute worst time to be one. He has earned this run we are about to go on.
