The other aspect of weather games? How much do NFL teams prepare for it ?

Coaches like Gibbs or nowadays Belichick,have their teams practice in the elements. I even remember Theismann telling a story that if they knew bad weather was coming, the staff would soak footballs in buckets so they'd get the feel of a wet ball.
With most teams running to their bubble field when weather threatens a practice, it's something to think about.
 
Yeah, that’s a great point. Short answer, almost no one likely goes to those lengths to be prepared nowadays… would love to see it though…

Oddly, I feel better about this game than I did about the first half against Denver. Howell led two should-have-been scoring drives. We are getting outclassed by the Bills, but that's not really unexpected. My main take away is that if we had protection or the ability to run block... we'd be a dangerous team.

We're not where we want to be, but we can see the potential had we built the team better.

Not gonna lie, I'm not thrilled, but I would also be lying if I said I didn't expect this at some point this season.

At least it was outside the conference and not against the Cowboys or Eagles.
 
I have a lot of feelings, but basically we got beat up on by a far superior team. Better players, better coaching, better execution. I have no idea what our offensive and defensive 'game plans' were for today, but I don't think either was a recipe to win. Of course, any time you have 4+ turnovers, that's almost an impossibility to overcome. But I think there were a lot of reasons we got trucked today. The turnovers were just a part of the explanation.
 
This kinda sums it up for me. Granted, a fair number of those yards came after we were down 3 scores but still - gotta ask if EB learned anything from the first Qtr last week or not.

We hear fans talk a lot about the need to run to keep teams guessing and open up the passing game. But we don't seem to realize that when you are mostly passing, runs are going to tend to be successful (because the D is mostly anticipating more passing). You start pounding the ball much more frequently and those gains likely start to get stuffed.

I do think we should have run a lot more - only because statistically Buffalo is worse against the run - but more importantly, because you aren't subjecting your QB to so much pass rush brutality.

Bottom line. When we needed to execute today, we couldn't. When Buffalo need to, they mostly did.

On the podcast, I said a run heavy gameplan would make a lot of sense. I don't think we would've beat Buffalo today if we'd gone extreme rush happy with the playcalling, but I don't think we lose by 30+ points.
 
Three games in a row of ignoring the run in the first half. Sensing a pattern here. lol
 
On another note....Is this Dline the most overhyped unit in the league?

For the amount of pub they get, they really don't live up to it,IMO. Did Jon Allen even get mentioned today? Chase out there jogging and Sweat barely got a finger on Allen today.

Thorough ass kicking today.
 
The thing that makes it worse/better is we got into the red zone a decent amount. We just always turned it over.

So, I don’t know if that’s looking at the bright side or not
