Official Game Thread - THANKSGIVING EDITION - Week 12 - Commanders @ Cowboys

I honestly thought I was being restrained in my prediction that Dallas would only score 34 points (4 TDs, 2 FGS).

The only QBs I ever saw succeed with a line like ours were Brady and Maholmes. I dimly remember one run of injuries so bad that Brady had to deal with a tight end playing left tackle. But I think that was for one game or a few games and Brady was in his prime. Defenses were still afraid to blitz him. Maholmes also dealt with a injury destroyed line and managed to overcome it to a degree even in the playoffs, but it required crazy magic.

So, I still grade Bienemy and Howell on a curve. I will say that EB's absolute hatred of running the ball frustrates me and I hate 4th and one out of shotgun. The problem Bienemy has going forwards is that while the offense has done better and he should get some benefit of the doubt... there's no clear answer and if you have to rebuild you're not building on the hope of a maybe that too often shit the bed.

Part of me worried we would give up 70. I still think there's a chance that Miami could hit that number against us again.

I mean, I have no words.

The Washington defense is at the bottom. Dak with 4 touchdowns.

Mahomes and Wilson had great first seasons in part because they were on playoff caliber teams and received support from defense and special teams.

Howell?

He NEVER gets turnovers and short fields to work with. Each drive has to be 75-80 yards.

More often than not Howell and EB are working from behind. Unless Washington comes out and scores on its first two plus drives the defense has us in a 0-7 or 0-14 hole.

Even in a first half yesterday where Washington had the ball for long stretches, Dallas was able to put together 3-4 minute drives to score on this Division III defense.

This is the worst performance from a back seven in years IMO.

The linebackers can’t cover at all.

The run defense is pathetic. Yesterday Dallas was running plays to get 5-6 yards and Pollard turned them into 10-15 yard gainers. How about that long TD on a basic off tackle play?

Anyone see Cody Barton and $20M Jonathan Allen get pushed into the end zone on that goal line play?

This is man on man isolations, not complex stuff. Beat the man in front of you.

If this team allowing 20 points in a half while being on the field for a lot less time than Dallas’ defense is this group performing with effort and focus we are really in trouble.

Dallas’ antics were over the top but when are they not when given the chance?

Yesterday had all of the makings of the Homecoming Game it turned out to be. The eyes of the NFL nation watching, 93k fans in attendance, and the Washington Generals on the opposing sideline gave them the opportunity to reveal exactly who they are.

Sadly, I fully remember when this was a rivalry matchup.

Fuck Dallas. Fuck Washington more.

This!

Was anyone in ANY doubt that at the end of the first half, after we'd driven 80 odd yards to score that TD with 1 minute left, that they weren't going to respond IMMEDIATELY?

It took them 35 seconds to retaliate and wipe out our momentum going into the half.

35 Seconds!

You won't see Jack Del Rio get another job in the NFL. He was running out the string here under Rivera and probably thought he could ride things out for another 5-6 weeks before the whole staff was flushed.

EXCEPT that Rivera whether he thinks he still has a chance to come back OR just doesn't want to go out with a string of 7 losses decided the status quo, even with getting paid, wasn't enough.

And for that I have respect for him. A lot of coaches just sit there and take the pounding and never respond at all and walk away into the night after the last game.

Plus, knowing this is his last coaching job, probably wanted to call a defense one more time before walking off the stage.

You can't do any worse than 32nd in scoring defense and 29th in yardage against :devilish:

I saw that ESPN statistic on Daron Payne that his pass rush pressure percentage has dropped by 50% from last season from 12.7% to 6%. He has 2 sacks after 11.5.

This is a guy that needs a kick in the ass.

Or he's auditioning for what he anticipates might be his next job.

It's so mind-boggling. He plays out of his mind AFTER getting a massive 2nd contract, and then this? It just makes zero sense. I think Allen is still struggling with that nagging injury, but no idea why Payne has fallen off the edge of the world...

Payne has fallen off because he was playing for the money. Now he has it.

Sadly, it appears he is who many of us thought he was.

But he already had the money last year and he played lights out. I don't get it - what makes this season different?

Someone just posted that the Cowboys-Commanders game was the 3rd most watched regular season NFL game ever.

Great.

Hopefully all of the potential front office executives and GMs were watching.
