Official Game Thread - Preseason Week 1 - Commanders @ Patriots

Oh, no question.

Very few players have looked good. I think maybe one or two, but as a team it's all but a total stinker.

They look terrible, agreed. They just mostly aren’t the players we’ll be rostering.

I think it’s fair to be disappointed in how they were prepared but the energy was completely lopsided the moment the game started. The kick return, the pats roster under a new coach setting a new culture. Playing their starters for over a quarter. They had a chip on their shoulder.

I think it’s fair to be annoyed by this performance, I’m simply saying that it doesn’t mean anything

I’m only posting the videos of the good plays so that people who come in here after to catch up who didn’t see the game can see the Crowley-Merritt clips, it’s the only thing I really cared about in this game

Look like we will have the first pick in the draft next year.

you can sugar coat it all you want..this team looks like ass compared to the other teams that i have watched this preseason so far.

If you are referencing the Bengals, they started Burrow and Chase. That’s a stark contrast from Sam Hartman and friends.

In all fairness, 7 penalties in the first half and terrible Special Teams coverage was disappointing. That’s being said, I think we should give the team the benefit of the doubt here - they were spectacular on Teams coverage a year ago and didn’t beat ourselves with major penalty problems. Let’s wait for September to freak out.

I don't know. Our 6th and 7th stringers got owned by their first stringers. I am giving up on the season.

I don't think folks are claiming they looked good, rather they are noting that there are only a handful of players on the field that will have a meaningful role at all this season. When most of those players aren't going to make ANY 53 man roster, there isn't a whole lot of significance to how they looked 🤷

The joint practice was what you should draw conclusions from (if there are any to be drawn at all)

The Patriots obviously took this game far more seriously than we did on Tom Brady night. Like was said they played starters, they had a game plan. They clearly wanted to win. Right now I don’t really feel anything about it, but if we look like this against the Bengals and the Ravens then I will have some cause for concern…only on the energy level if nothing else.

One thing I will take away from this game is that Sam Hartman is bad enough that it actually hurts our ability to evaluate the young offensive players. If they aren’t going to risk Mariota by letting him knock the rust off, then they probably need to give Josh Johnson reps with the 2’s and 3’s in these remaining games if they want to learn anything at all about the WR, RB, and TE depth

Whoever these dumb Pats brothers are are super annoying to listen to. Glad I dont have to hear them very often. My ears are bleeding. And Ive only had the game on for the 4th quarter.
