Official Game Thread - @ Philadelphia Eagles

With the way Forbes was getting cooked today, was surprised they never put St Juste on Brown. He's a bigger corner and might have slowed him down.
Seriously disappointed in the Dline and their failure to step up vs better opponents. We hear weekly about all the first round picks and the rest of the hype but they never live up to it.

I think it's also now time to admit freely that Chase Young has been a massive bust as a #2 overall pick. He was drafted to be a game wrecker and other than seven games in his rookie year, he's not come close. He doesn't even hustle anymore on any play that doesn't come his way.
They should move him at the trade deadline for OT help if possible.

Washington is 2-2 with two winnable games coming up. Kinda where I thought they would be.

Even though Doc Walker and some others don’t want to admit it this is a year finding out about a lot of younger players who may or may not appeal to a new GM in 2024.

Howell is playing like you expect a rookie. Doc’s contention the team should have gone to Brissett, a 31 year old journeyman is beyond shortsighted.

I guess all those haters can now look at Buffalo as being the best team in the league over the past 3 games, all 25-30 point blowouts after getting embarrassed by the opening loss to Zach Wilson rather than it showing Howell didn’t belong.

It’s a week to week league and people forget that.

No doubt the Steelers didn’t expect to get bent over by the Texans.

I agree with this. I expected 2-2, but I'd be lying if I wasn't heartbroken after the game. This year is about evaluating who you have. Howell really bounced back nicely today. That was the most important thing to come out of today's game. I have a much better outlook heading into Thursday's game against the Bears.

My apologies, but I am still fixated on the opportunity to go for two at the end of the game that Rivera declined.

When questioned about it, he said the guys were gassed, having just put together a super-long drive to tie it up. That response makes things even more perplexing for me...

So it's a good idea to send them out there for a whole other quarter of football?!

Guess what - the defense was gassed too, Ron! I am pretty sure in that moment of the game, every player on offense had enough energy to give it their all for one more play...just one.

I'm fuming.

This has been a brutal sports weekend for me. My alma mater was up 21-7 vs. Boston College in the 3rd Quarter and ends up losing the game on 24 or more unanswered points. My MLS team, which desperately had to win to have any chances of postseason play gave up two late goals to lose. And then today. This one hurt because we outplayed the Eagles and had so many chances to win. We wasted a really great effort by Sam Howell today. If we can somehow win three straight winnable games to get to 5-2, I'll feel like smiling again. But today, I'm a pretty grumpy and bummed out SOB.

My family was telling me about that comment he made. What a dumb comment. Your offense was tired? The same offense that you said was in great shape because of the way Bieniemy got them in shape? No, Ron was scared. There is nothing else to it. He was scared to go for 2, because if they don't get it, he takes the blame because of that decision. But kicking and then eventually losing in OT, there is a lot more blame to go around. I'm more convinced this was a terrible decision because of his excuse.

Yes, I'm disappointed. I'm also enheartened and optimistic.

After last week's debacle at home against Buffalo, I expected bad things this week on the road in Philly. I really did.

I think the officials got the call on Terry's catch right. I also believe they totally missed the false start on the Eagles on their 4th down push.

I can't fault Rivera for taking the PAT rather than going for 2, especially with us winning the coin toss going into OT. I liked our odds at that point. If he had gone for it and we didn't get it, he'd be getting even more stick today than he is for taking the PAT.

Sam Howell is an impressive young man. After last week, I had concerns about him. This week, I'm convinced he is the real deal.

The Eagles DLine might be as overrated as ours.

Honestly, the team (and us fans) should be feeling pretty good today. Our young team with a QB starting his 5th game scared the defending NFC Champions yesterday, in their own house, and this team should only get better from here.

Really good play here by Jamin Davis.

It's like he's doing 140 in a 35 mph zone.

Too soon?

More evidence Jamin Davis is getting it...

Yes. When you look up "arm talent" in the NFL cliche glossary, that's Exhibit A.

My only complaint with that throw is that Howell led Thomas right into that hit from the Safety. The throw was amazing but I think he's got to help protect his guys a bit better.

Yeah, I'm picking at nits. Nice to be in that position with our QB, huh?

I guess it could have been a little lower, but he had 93 coming down on him quick up the middle.
