Official Game Thread - NFC CHAMPIONSHIP - Commanders @ Eagles

I have an old friend who happend to buy a house just up the road. He was a Redskins fan but Snyder forced him to convert to the Ravens. But he still roots for Washington and I'm sure wants to come over for the game, probably with his wife who we like but don't know that well. She is a casual fan.

I told my wife I don't think I want to invite them. I want to be able to go crazy and not be at all concerned about having a guest. Is that weird?
No. What's weird is switching teams.....regardless of the reason.

No sir, that is completely normal for an intense fan. The world needs more of you, not less. Save the neighbor wife invite for things that matter less than the NFCCG. Maybe Valentines Day or your wedding anniversary.
This couple and another couple always come here for the Super Bowl. If Washington is in it well she'll just have to understand. I'll cross that bridge if we get to it.

Too much time on my hands this morning LOL

Twas the night before Philly, when all through the land
People we’re all saying, Eagles championship is in hand.
The banners were hung, with the flags in the air
They think that they’re home free , with nearly a care

At the start of the season, people left us for dead,
With a team in rebuilding, not a lot can be said.
The coaches are retreads, that failed in their jobs
Just how the GM could consider a group of such nobs.

When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
Half way through the season, our team seemed to matter.
Our rookie sensation… he flew like a flash,
Tore open the defenses like the odd bag of trash.

Jayden and the rest put on a hell of a show
With a Monday night showcase of a team we now know.
When, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
A long winning streak, and playoff are near.

With a young Quarterback, so lively and quick,
along with Mr McLaurin, our passing game is just sick.
More rapid than eagles the victories they came,
With a group of receivers, that nobody would claim!

"Now Terry! Now Dyami ! now, Jamison and Zaccheaus!
There isn’t a secondary that can cover all of us!
To the top of the rout! Then go up for the ball!
Now dash away! Dash away! It’s McLaurin you’ll!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
After the bye week, people expected us to die.
But up at the Skins place the players all knew,
JD5 was undoubtedly the leader of this crew.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the air
Talk of the playoffs, and the Skins could be there.
As I drew in my head, with it spinning around,
Could this actually be true, the playoffs abound.

He was dressed in his gear, from his head to his foot,
And his dazzling smile couldn’t be tarnished with soot.
With the burden of past years flung onto his back,
He looks like a seasoned pro, with this offensive attack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his smile how merry!
He’s awakened the franchise, and has all the fans merry!
With a big toothy smile, no matter how things go,
He’s become a dangerous man with no time to go.

The stump of a pencil he held tight in his teeth,
Quinn knows his opponent, and knows they can be beat.
He has nerves of steel and never quivers like jelly,
And the numbers Jayden puts up broke records they tell me!

He’s arrogant, and nasty, crotchety Eagle elf,
And I laughed when I hear Sirianni, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Jayden gave notice the Skins weren’t dead.

He’ll speak not a word, but go straight to his work,
And lead us to victory, over those green clad jerks.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, lets see where it goes!

He’ll spring to his podium, to give his team props,
And hopefully next week, our team will be tops.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he stepped out of sight,
"WE’RE IN THE PLAYOFFS BABY, NFC CHAMPIONSHIP IS IN SIGHT !"

I live in Nashville and all my work friends said we should go to the bar to watch the game. I told them trust me you dont want me around during the game. My roomate has made alternate plans to be out of the house for the game because in her words im to loud and the words that come out of my mouth would make a drunken sailor blush

I think we will be holding our breath some for JD this game. In situations that demand it I see him cutting inside or taking on the tackler. It’s to get to the Super Bowl. There will be no holding back. This is as it should be, but could result in some of those LSU looney runes hits we all fear.

He may be more aggressive in certain situations than he would be in a game where less is at stake, but #5 knows how to protect himself. He slides or gets out of bounds well ahead of any potential big hit. When a hit is unavoidable, he seems to usually turn his body a bit to lessen the impact and also seems to move into and through the contact, almost like a martial artist using an attacker's momentum against him. #5 doesn't slow down at the sideline like Mahomes to try to draw flags, and his running style is might-and-day different than old #10's reckless approach.

Maybe it’s a selective memory thing, but anyone else feel like in-game momentum almost doesn’t matter with this team?
I agree with this. I think the team feeds off it when it’s their momentum, but seems they have the ability to “steady the ship” when the other team has momentum. Very resilient group.

So I have to ask... how many time have you rewatched the Detroit game ? I'm in for 4 total

The full game I haven't watched. But countless times I've watched a 6-minute highlight video (linked here: ) and an approximately 20-minute highlight video (linked here: ).

The 6-minute one is cool 'cause it's just Washington highlights.

Just saw an article on Bluesky (and reposted it) saying that 21% of tickets at the Linc have been bought up by Washington fans. Be cool if we got loud. Wonder if that would shock Philly?

Try me. I used to be a drunken sailor.

I guess my question would be - is that a lot? That sounds pretty routine to me, but I haven't been able to find any stats on opposing fan attendance. I don't think it's 'tracked'.

I really don't know, but one in five sounds like enough to make their presence heard.

The question I had was how did they know they were Redskins' fans? It could just be ticket resales.
