"Norm!" (The Welcome Thread)

PETEGEE77,

SBIII was the first NFL game I ever saw ... seven years old, via satellite in Mexico City. Been hooked ever since.

Been a bit of a closet Jets fan all along. Namath in the all-whites, with the old helmet. Just classic.

Been a long road for you brother. Welcome aboard here, and we do NOT begrudge you continuing to root for the resurrection in NY.

If you've joined BGO just in the past couple months, and haven't done so yet, we would love to hear a little about yourself, where you are from, what you are into, and how you became a Washington fan...

Don't be shy :)

Don't want to get too long so I'll try to summarize as best I can:

Grew up in Montgomery County, became a Redskins fan at 12 when George Allen came to town and made them instant winners,. Before that I was a Colts fan as the Redskins sucked and nobody in the neighborhood was that into them.

Moved to a turn of the century beat up farmhouse outside of Mt. Airy in 2002. One of the boldest, and best, decisions I ever made. I love this place and hope I die here.

I sold for a printing and graphic design company. It was a great career, I worked hard and did well, until it wasn't because people stopped buying printing. So I said fuck it life's too short to be unhappy so I announced my retirement 2 months short of my 60th birthday and drove an Uber for 4 years. I enjoyed the Hell out of driving around talking to people on my schedule, I was no longer losing sleep worrying about losing a big customer. Again one of the boldest, and best, decisions I have ever made.

As a matter of fact every single major decision I made in my life has turned out to be the right decision. I've always recognized and appreciated that.

Hello all, Just found this place while browsing the interwebz. Long time account holder of the same name on the old Extremeskins forum and tried to access that site and knew something changed since the last time I was active (~5yrs ago). Forums looked off, and saw some posts about porn... I assume the site was hijacked and no longer being run by the guys in the past. Just looking to chat about our love/hate of our Redskins/Commanders like back in the day with TK, Bubba (RIP), SoCal, JimmiJo, OldSkool, ect and some of the memorable trolls from our rivals like WestBrook36. Looking forward to some meaningful and sometimes mean conversations. Fuck the Cowboys!

Welcome to the site and let us know if we can help you with anything

My name is Eric. I hail from Smithtown, NY. Its a little place out on Long Island about 40 minutes from Manhattan. Been a Redskins fan since I was about 11. All my uncles were Jets or Giants fans, and those teams sucked in the late 70s/early 80's. I was a bit of rebel too always choosing to go against the grain. as a kid, I thought the team logos were cool, and I liked the colors. Lucky for me, they turned out to have a really good run for a little over a decade and I've been a fan since. I work in the IT field full time from home. I'm into the NFL, fantasy football, music (I play guitar), and have a bucket list item of seeing the Skins in every stadium in the NFL (highly unlikely to ever achieve that). Other than that, I'm a chill dude who likes to talk about football... like a lot. This years been crazy with injuries and an utter disappointment... but being a long time fan... Im used to this.

Check out the Musical Instrument thread. Definitely some guitar players here.

Hi all I'm Mike.

I'm from eastern NM and was born a Skins fan. I attended my first Skins game a few years ago in Denver, and couldn't believe I waited so long. I knew I didn't want my first game to be in Dallas so I decided to wait until I could visit DC. That was derailed when my wife surprised me with tickets to the Denver game. Dunno why I waited so long!! I did finally go to DC with my boys when we played the Titans in the think pink game a few years back. I felt like a kid on Xmas morning. Walking around seeing the burgendy and gold everywhere, the atmosphere, Skins fans everywhere, it was a surreal moment. I hate the Cowgirlswith a passion and moreover I hate the color blue..lol I dont own a single garment that is the color blue!

HTTR!

Hey Mike - thanks for sharing brother and welcome to the site! Let us know if we can be of any help as you get settled in. We do a game day chat here you would likely enjoy (well - at least being with fellow fans).

Welcome to the board!

Well, it's genius that BGO sent me a Happy Birthday email today! I knew BGO was still around, but I had not thought to check in for years. I'm glad to see it is still active -- and that my user name and password still work after all this time! (Took a while to figure out my password :))

I enjoyed reading the History of BGO Obsession thread and I do recall those early days when ES and then BGO started. I even reminisced reading this old thread, ha ha. https://www.bgobsession.com/threads/gary-fitzgerald-writer-for-redskins-com-is-moving-on.48039/

After I left the team, I started a Twitter account and posted my thoughts on the team there. Now Twitter is a cesspool. I miss message boards and the community feel they brought. You don't get that on social media, at least not anymore.

I hope all is well with everyone I knew and met back in the day. My connections to the team are all gone but I still follow along, mostly listening to podcasts. I'm still in the DMV -- I actually live just a few miles from the Stadium. Went to Commanders-Lions this past year (my wife is from Detroit and a huge Lions fan).

But it's great to see this site doing so well. Keep on keepin' on!

Wow! So cool to hear from you. I was ‘Tarhog’ back on ES and did a lot of the early coverage duties at the park. You were always a good guy to us even if we were persona non grata with the traditional media guys.

We have a great community, hope you will stop by and give us your insights once in a while

And Happy Birthday Gary!
