Not all divisions are created equal
Wow. Crazy money QBs are getting now. Whether franchises can have sustained success giving this much of their salary cap to 1 player - I guess that's TBD.
 
I thought the Wentz contract would bite them in the ass, they figured it out, I thought Goff in LA would bite them in the ass (it did but because of the Stafford extension more than anything). It just seems some front offices know how to restructure their contracts and keep plugging along, helps to also draft well. At least Hurts took his team somewhere before the big money, I have a feeling Arizona will be eating crow for awhile with the Murray deal, and I doubt any honest Minny fan would say they've gotten their monies worth with Cousins. Of course then there's the possibility of an epic fall off in play, Matt Ryan being a key example. As long as the cap keeps increasing teams are going to judge value based on where they think the cap will be in year 3 of the deal, not so much next year I'm guessing.

What the 49ers traded to move up for Trey Lance:

2021- 1st
2022- 1st
2022- 3rd
2023- 1st

I never saw anything in Lance that made me think moving up to get hm was a great idea, but with QBs, you never know. Interesting trade from the Dallas vantage point. I guess if you believe Lance was anything close to a 1st round value, getting him for a 4th rounder isn't bad. Then again, he may be a total bust and to give up even a 4th for a guy who couldn't beat out Sam Darnold to be the backup? That ain't good.

You would think Dallas, especially with Prescott's injury history, would want a backup with a lot of experience who could still give them a chance to win if the starter goes down. Instead, they get a guy who is relatively inexperienced and so far, not a very good NFL QB.

He's young and he's cheap but I'm not sure he's a very desireable backup QB.

The only thing you can say about San Fran, is that they seem to have made a decisive decision and assuming he never makes it as an NFL QB, getting something for him vs. continuing to try and save face for a colossal mistake. I would put San Fran's move to get Lance right up there with our RG3 debacle - but at least we got one great season out of Griffin.
 
Self-awareness never has been a real strong suit for Griffin...
