Next Day Thread: Dirty Work, Dirty Bird

We are still a young enough team that sitting them is not wise. Think of it like starting to run on the beach and then getting to a flat surface and you can cruise. We want to hit our stride going into the playoffs. Our game is based on winning the inches game and we're really close to being smooth at that. Plus, our run game needs a lot more live reps to get some details fixed.

100%. I think we also saw that Jayden needs to play to be sharp. When they limited his reps due to the rib injury, he was noticeably less sharp during that stretch. We don't want him spending time in a playoff game working through some 'rust'. Keep the mojo rolling. We've had one hell of a December and I wouldn't do anything to disrupt that.

Although we did show we can beat Philly I think the last thing Dan Quinn wants is to have to go to their home stadium in the 1st round of the playoffs. You play Dallas straight up to maintain the 6th seed and not have to do that, and try and give yourself the best chance of facing a more manageable 1st round playoff opponent imho.

I don't want to face Stafford, Nacua, and Kupp.
Nopity nope.

Don’t disagree, but some counter points came to mind:
Daniels was limited in practice and that (according to DQ) affected his game. We could still give him some practice reps this week and then a full week of reps going into the playoff game.

If Biadasz sits to heal up and some of our tackles are banged up and/or sitting out to recover, I don’t love the idea of putting Daniels up against a pretty dangerous pass rush (assuming Parsons/Lawrence are playing, which I don’t know).

Goals are simple with this game. We want the 6th seed. While highly unlikely, you always want every opportunity to play at home again and that doesn't happen at 7. As a coaching staff, I do not want the taste of defeat in my players mouth going into the playoffs. I need them chomping at the bit with no doubts. Also, I am not going to mentally put my guys through a ringer about this matters and this doesn't. Health doesn't even trump the mental state at this time of year with such a young, basically immature team. Another point is in football, you have one gear and dialing it down only causes turmoil. No good.

For no other reason....its Dallas. They got us earlier. That does NOT happen again.

On side note, I think we end up playing the Bucs. The Rams will sit players and the Bucs have to win. Since we are in payback mode, we start checking boxes.

If anybody wants a truly thoughtful film breakdown listen about how creative Kliff was on offense to use smoke and mirrors to try and generate offense, list to the Al Galdi podcast from today, Jan 2nd 2025. Al has Mark Bullock on, and he goes through a number of plays and how they are designed, and the level of creativity. Mark's segment starts at about the 12 minute mark. However, the part on Kingsbury is after some conversation on Daniels, so maybe speed up to about the 15-17 minute mark to listen specifically to that part.

All of it is good, but I thought his description of the creativity was truly exceptional.

Quinn said flatly they are going to try and win this game. Seeding is important. I read that as "yeah, we'll go to Philly if we have to, but honestly, let's play somewhere else first."

Without Lamb, they shouldn't have enough on offense to beat us regardless.

I expect us to be careful, but not conciliatory, in this game. If there are guys who could go but it would be better to get them a week off, they might not.

Daniels will play. I think, however, you're going to see a ton of quick stuff to get the ball out of his hands lightening fast, and I think you're going to see a lot less of him being presented as a run threat. I think you're going to see a boatload of CRod, McNichols, and BRob. Maybe in that order.

My guess is Biadacz sits unless he's really fine. I don't know about the status of either Wylie or Lucas. What I do know is you do NOT want Trent Scott playing in the playoffs. Don't really want Deiter playing in the playoffs either for that matter. But he did much better last game than he did in his first appearance. And Allegretti seemed to take over the role of making the line calls, so maybe that's how they play it if Biadacz is out.

Great breakdown by Chase Daniels.
Chase Daniels basically had the most ideal career in the history of the NFL. He played for 14 years, started 5 games, won a SB, and made $41 million dollars. That man won life. Didn't get beat up, has the hardware, and the money.

#WINNING

Truly a great analysis.

And has seemingly made the jump to successful professional analyst in a very crowded space with a lot of ex-players to compete with. Great trajectory for that guy

You'd guess one of the reasons why he lasted so long as a backup was probably that he was very QB-smart. Coaches trusted that he would understand what they wanted out of a play without a lot of practice reps. What made him a long-term back up is probably what makes him a good analyst.

I absolutely love watching breakdowns of offense. However, after years of being an OC and DC, I love that the defense isn't the sexy breakdown, but its what I watch. I could do hours of that. My favorite part is watching a play where a player gets credit for dominating and when you see the play, nobody touched him or a major breakdown happened. I'm like....NO SH*T Sherlock. Lots of good stuff out there.

I can see that. It's like when the running back runs through a hole untouched for a big gain and the announcers say "What a great run!"

Nopity nope.

No matter which team Washington faces (eagles, Bucs, Rams), there are going to be serious challenges.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the members of the team might want to face Tampa again to show what different team they are from the team that faced the Bucs week one.

We'll see after Sunday.

I live in LA so I'm rooting for the Rams so I can go to the game. But that aside, Bucs would be cool because of the symmetry facing them Week 1 and then in the playoffs. Plus another vaunted Lattimore vs. Evans matchup (assuming ML is back for the playoffs)

Either way, the 6 seed is important. We duck Philly and also guarantee not to play a cold weather game until at least the NFC Championship (should we get there), as our universe of opponents would be warm climate or dome teams (LA, TB, ATL, MIN, DET).
