Here are the facts:
-Dan Snyder was so confident the name Redskins was going to remain that he let go of the Washington Warriors TM years before the Golden State Warriors won 3 out of 4 championships.
-Loss of money via sponsorships was the final straw that cause the name to retire. And no matter what, the Redskins name is not coming back because the sponsors can do the same trick again.
-Commanders was one of three name finalists and the only name that Washington can claim 100% of the trademark. Redwolves was owned by Arkansas State Univ. (Wolves was owned by Minnesota Timberwolves), and DCFC was owned by Detroit City Football Club. No organization wants to lease a name. They want full control. Especially a pro league team.
I don't want to hear people say that any name other than Commanders will garners more sales. There is no guarantee. The only guarantee are Commanders sales already are making sales. So no reason to fix what is making money.
If the Redskins name was the price we had to pay to get rid of Dan Snyder, so be it. Outside of Red(wolves), none of the other names were exciting. Armada, Brigade, Presidents, WFT, Redhogs (TM owned by U of AR), and Defenders (XFL was active).
So yeah I don't like the name. And I won't repeat what I said in previous posts here:
Not everybody views our nations history the same, which is why it is best we stay away from specific people with the brand. Everybody has a grievance or opinion about everything. Nothing saps the joy or fun out of a discussion quicker than political/social slants or negative historical...

This even isn’t going out on limb…I could do 100% better and I’m an old-head, but…I do have artistic taste. I guess that’s not a consideration.

I'm going to be the curmudgeon here. I loath the black uniforms. They have nothing to do with the team history at all. No where close. I know, the kiddies like them, but it's about as far away from the Skins as you can get. I can't stand the bastardized fight song. Either save it for when the...

The primary purpose for this organization is to win.
But its secondary purpose is to create an identity. And the W and crest is not an identity. We need a visual identity we have been missing since 2019. It can be just as simple as putting the W inside a shape. And that shape is a soldier dog tag. Other teams use simple shapes that trigger images. Cowboys have the star, Chiefs have the arrowhead, so why not let us use the soldier dog tag (a literal form of identity)?
I get angry at people who hate the name and they don't even try to make it work. If they think that is the organization's job, no. We the fans need to make the Commanders name work. We the fans need to take the crap they gave us and turn it into a visual identity that we can get behind without saying the name sucks. They may still have questions about how things connect, but when we show off our W inside a soldier dogtag, and the many images that come to mind, nothing else will matter.
Remember who we were, Take Command of who we are.
