(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

but if they “go back to our brand” sans the logo and the name…will it still suck? Or will it be markedly improved?

I’m at around 80% certain that is what is going to happen. They are going to look like the Redskins without the name and logo. There will be plenty in this time frame who will say that isn’t enough. For many right now a full restoration of the Redskins brand and name would be the only thing that works. I believe those people are the minority. Even if you don’t believe there was anything wrong with the Redskins’s name and brand (like me) you don’t want it back and the controversy that goes with it.

I do believe the Commanders name works over the long haul. We still have Wizards 30 years later. People still generally dislike it over Bullets but it’s still here and those people are not as loud.
That is the big question. I think going back to the old uniforms without the name and logo is more a reminder of what was lost than anything else. They look better for sure but I believe they need a real logo not just the "W". Perhaps they could use a spear-they have alluded to that in some marketing stuff. Their needs to be something that is moving fans past the loss of the name and logo. Something people like and can embrace. I don't think the old uniforms (without the logo) alone will do that.

I think the answer involves a Spear and the Greco-Roman theme they dabbled with this year. A full embrace of that iconography with the name and throwback uniforms would bring us home. Gives a legit theme and ties in to Washington D.C.

This is exactly where I am at. It's not perfect, but nothing was going to be perfect after what they took from us.

Some valid points are made but that reads more like a propaganda piece by a disgruntled fan than anything remotely scientific.

Yeah, they made sure to hit almost every team in the league but then wrote an entire manifesto at the end about our team lol. Clearly someone with an axe to grind

One of many self-inflicted wounds by Daniel Snyder and Harris & Co continue to pour salt in it. For Chrissakes fix it already!

Easy fixes all. We had cool uniforms and still wear them, sometimes. Make them permanent. Slap the R back on the helmet. And yes, change that God forsaken, ludicrous name to Warriors or RedSomethingorOther.

Good grief! It his REALLY that difficult to figure out?

I remember when NFL owners were larger than life characters strutting around like monarchs or rock stars. When did they become a bunch of wimps?

They're gonna wait until the glory years generation dies off? Harris is going to wait until he himself expires? A 7 year old who saw SB 17 is just hitting 50 now. And that fan saw 2 more after that. Short of an atomic attack around here, that sector of the fanbase is going to be around a looooonnnnggg time.

Fix It!

Thank you for listening to my rant. Happy Holidays to my fellow Redskins fans. Beat Dallas.

Hot tip. Harris is our guy but he’s an NFL owner. NFL owners are billionaires. Billionaires almost without exception are the biggest losers on planet earth and are almost entirely insulated from ever realizing it. He will never be anyone’s savior, but he can enable much joy for us if he does things well. We can only hope that our particular greedy loser does things we like in a manner that we like, and that’s basically it. It’s best not to dwell too much on the idea of NFL owners as long as they don’t get in the way of your enjoyment of the product (which happens all too frequently), otherwise it pretty much ruins the sport for you. All fans (except the Packers I guess) must deal with this, so we must just hope we have one of the least bad ones.

I want to see him hire experts, spend as much of his dragon hoard on my team as he can, and stay out of the way and not cause controversy. It’s basically the best we can hope for. But I don’t hope he’s going to “do the right thing” or “respect the fans” or “honor the legacy of the thing he’s bought” because I already know what he is and have to accept it. I just want what’s in his best interest as an insatiable businessman to line up with what’s in my best interest as a fan often enough to win some Super Bowls. That’s a realistic hope.

Well, the Super Bowl uniforms were obviously everyone’s favorite all season. I hope beyond hope they are permanent and the other two get a similar do over.

I made the poll public without voting. Hopefully it will encourage more discussion during the off-season.

I hope our 7th overall draft pick holds up the Super Bowl jersey in a few months.

That would make sense, very loosely guarded secret this past season that the new white jerseys are going to be our regular away jerseys starting this year. So putting the old Snyder design in the renders wouldn’t make sense, good catch

The stadium design renderings this week already got my mind off the shitty season we just had.

Uniform news would be just too much to ask for right now wouldn’t it lol.

My guess is the current maroon become alts. And our main uniforms are the real jerseys (the burgundy and white classics). Guessing we also go with the “throwback” helmet from this year. I’d outline the W in white and call it a day.

I wish they'd flush the maroon completely from our history.

The godawful current white abominations they call a jersey.

The only white ones in this rendition are the "SB Era" jerseys.
Not that I think they're going away, sadly...but, I don't think I see any whack-ass, black jersey, Steelers knock-off trash either.

I absolutely hate those things.
