True, but they were much further back than we are. Going from 22 or wherever they were last year to 6 is a much bigger jump than from 6 to 2.
 
If we don't make an offer to Flynn, would you say that pretty much means we have our sights set on Griffin? If I make that assumption, you can bet the Rams and Vikings will make it as well. If they think the Skins are desparate for RG3, they'll drive the price up.

I think we're gonna pay no matter what. Flynn will cost us a ton of money. Griffin will cost us a bunch of picks. Gonna be interesting to see which way the scales tip.

As for me, I like the thought of signing Flynn and having a full compliment of draft picks because I feel like we could become a contender sooner. On the other hand, seeing RG3 at QB in the B&G gives me chills. In this instance, I see the glass as totally full because I think we could win either way.

The moment I see Redskins One headed toward Greenbay after the superbowl I'd have a smile on my face.

Swapping our 6th overall for the Rams 2nd overall and only giving up a 2nd and a 1st would be a steal.

The Raiders idiotic move by the now ex-coach of giving up a 1st and conditional 1st (now 2nd rounder) for an aging QB did not set the standard.
 
Take this for what it's worth, Chris Russell thinks Flynn will be a target for the Skins and he says he has a blog coming out in the next couple of days talking about it on espn980.com

Not saying Russell is guilty of this because the wording he uses makes it clear he doesn't know, but this is the worst part of the off-season...conjecture by "those in the know". I enjoy the banter each of us on this board have, but none of us really knows what our team will do or at least we admit as much.

The "experts" in the media will be playing the game over the next 2 months and the reality is many of them, like Jason LaConfora, will be used as pawns by front offices every where to gain any advantage a team can.

Flynn will be in a Redskins', a Browns', a Seahawks', a Dolphins' uniform before it's all over with.

Some will have insight and be able to say with some level of certainty, but no one will "know", even the Front Offices of these teams except the Indianapolis Colts, until it's all said and done.

Very true! Peyton Manning has already been linked to at least three teams and he hasn't even been released yet.

Russell says that he has heard this from someone in the Redskin camp but I doubt he names his source in his article.

From what I have seen Chris Russell is one of the good ones but like any other members of the media, his job is no longer to report facts but to sell the news. Reports of Flynn to the Redskins is going to bring readers. I hope he's right. You all know I think we can win with Matt Flynn.

If Cleveland does sign Flynn, I think the cost for RGIII will drop. Miami may become involved but without Cleveland in the mix, we should be positioned better. Seattle has been rumored as another potential trade partner for St Louis.

Now, here's a twist I haven't seen mentioned else where, at least I haven't seen it. Jeff Fisher has been a successful coach, but whom did he have the most success with at QB? Steve McNair. Does that suggest he may be more inclined to trade Bradford, regardless of money because that can be worked out, because RGIII is more like McNair? See, I am good at conjecture too. :laugh:
 
It's possible El, but I am thinking those details were ironed out before Fisher was hired. The owner has a lot invested in Bradford and it would cost a lot more to cut him or trade him, sometimes the decisions are made for a coach based solely on finances.
 
I think Bradford is staying in ST Louis too much but it is easy to see a comparison between Mcnair and RG3. Also if Bradford was on the trading block you better believe Shanny would pull the trigger.

Interestingly in-depth analysis on Flynn. Granted it's just one person's view and thus subject to inferring a lot of tendencies, much as those who for some reason fear Vince Young/Mike Vick when they see RG3. (I'm just not seeing that at all). I have problems with RG3 too but their related to his size-or lack thereof-he's just doesn't look the 6' 2" 220lbs some claim-I see barely 6' 0" and maybe 200lbs. But that's just me, I guess.

This guy's doing a lot of speculating, but we all are at this point. At least he seems to keep his "speculation options" open which is probably good right now. FA, combines, the draft-everything's pretty unsettled at this point.

But that's cool. It generates thread topics. :)

Joe Philbin to the Dolphins. So what does that mean for Matt Flynn? If I were Shanahan I would trying to find out whether the Dolphins were going to make a major play for Flynn. If the Dolphins aren't interested in Flynn that tells me that we don't want to have anything to do with him.

Personally I think this is where Flynn ends up. When Holmgren left Green Bay he traded for Favre's backup Matt Hasselbeck, this would be the same idea.

Flynn knows the system and would do fine in Miami. The Browns are still very interested, but now it could be a bidding war. If Flynn signs with the Dolphins, it will be interesting to see if Holmgren is still set with the idea of not trading up under any circumstance.
 
I think most of us that want RG3 would like for Cleveland to sign Flynn but I think the Browns will sit there and let RG3 fall to them at #4.

What I meant was if Philbin, knowing Miami needs a QB, doesn't actively seek Flynn that wouldn't bode well for the QB. It's going to be interesting to see how this works out and see what kind of juice Russell really has at Redskins' Park to suggest that Shanahan is interested in him.

Not sure how Halsell can place that value on Flynn with a straight face. Look at some other QB's around the league and do some comparing.

The first grouping had similar situations to Flynn and received well over what Halsell is predicting. The second grouping are QB's that could reasonably be compared talent/potential-wise with Flynn. They also made well over what Halsell is predicting. The third grouping represents the value teams place on the QB position. If those guys made that kind of money, then Flynn can certainly expect more than what Halsell is saying.

If this Halsell is simply trying to under-value Flynn for the sake of manipulating the market, then so be it. If he seriously thinks Flynn can be had for "a 2 or 3 year deal, roughly at 3 million dollars in value per year" with "3-4 million guaranteed", then he's delusional.

I agree with you completely. I heard the Halsell interview on Redskins @ 1 then other day and was surprised at what he was saying. The fact is Flynn threw six TDs against an NFL defense without GB number one receiver and a couple of O-lineman. Someone (cough... cough... Miami) is going to pay this kid like a starting NFL QB. If I were Shanny I would have no problem paying him what Halsell suggests but would have a problem matching what I think the Dolphins will offer.

I hope Shanny finds the diamond in the rough in the Senior Bowl otherwise we better hope Peyton Manning is healthy and wants to play in DC, if not our QB situation might be another year of Rex.
