So have a very good friend of mine that went to University down in Charlottesville and he had a job as a bartender. One day this guy walks in and applies for a job as a bar back up and he got the job. Guy did a fine job but after a while he asked if he could play on open mic night if he made up any lost work. My buddy said sure go ahead. The guy developed a small following and eventually hooked up with the bar band. He was really tight with my friend and eventually played at his wedding.

When I went to Colins wedding he said he had a really good band playing. I'm like dude that's Dave Matthews. He was like yeah he's a good friend of mine... so nonchalantly.

I found this thread while debating on whether to start a dedicated metal/hard rock thread. This will do as I can listen to everything. For those that don’t know my name has been based on my favorite Judas Priest song. If you haven’t heard any of the new stuff by them it’s fantastic. Invincible Shield was released last March. One of my favorites is this one. (Rob Halford, the vocalist, is 72)

First song I learned on bass was "Livin' After Midnight". Took about 20 minutes for the basics, then learned to "walk it".

My favorites over the years have been Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Queensryche. Since around 2000 with the new wave of American Metal add Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, and Disturbed.
