Morris time. For several reasons.

2 days left before the trade deadline. I wonder what his realistic trade value is at this point.

If he doesn't fit Scot's system, as so many said before this season began, it might be smart to pull the trigger right now as opposed to getting nothing for him 9 games from now.

We can promote Trey Williams to take his spot.

Could we get a 3rd from some zone blocking team? I'd love a second, but that's probably a dream at this point.

Maybe a 4th? That's still better than nothing.

Yeah, use the one that fumbles as your primary with the one who's hurt as your 2. Both rookies and unproven over the vet who's done it for years.

Nothing like shit reporting and bullshit proposals to kick the bees nest.

"No brainer" no, it is something to discuss. But if you do then do it nicely without the sideways insults. Or else please don't speak to me. I'm not that guy anymore and would appreciate the respect.

Kinda like calling Casserly, a former GM of a Super Bowl winning team, someone offering a bullshit proposal. Come on man...quit being so sensitive every time someone challenges your assertions. I use certain language that you perceive as rude, you use language I perceive as aggressive. I don't tell you how to post, not my place. Don't tell me how to post.

I don't think it's bullshit as long as people aren't saying its clear cut or any easy call. Then, I think it's more nuanced than that.

And Jones I thought, has been getting more carries than Morris, or at least pretty damned close.

Not the last 2 games.

Now this is kinda stirring the pot. We're not trading Morris. He has the ability, benching him in favor of Jones may be an option, but trading him isn't going to happen.

Casserly is as much a reporter looking for ratings than a GM and all that stuff you mentioned.

Stop getting personal, start having manners, and stop acting like you know me. This isn't that anymore. This is about now 2 people telling you it's not just bullshit and your opinion.

That's it from me. I won't reply again or engage in this with you if you can't keep it respectable

Manners? Really...your righteousness is duly noted.

As for the progression here. McD5 posted a link quoting a pro football expert, it has a valid scenario for our team. You call his ideas a bullshit proposal. I challenged that notion, and expounded on it. My argument has been that you suggesting it's a bullshit proposal is wrong, the idea is not bullshit at all.

You want to suggest it's personal...you're wrong. I could care less. I am simply challenging your assertion...you however, are taking it personal. Not my fault you perceive things that aren't there.

I may be wrong thinking Morris should not be benched, but the idea must and more than likely has been considered...it's not some out of Casserly's ass proposal.

"Respect is earned"

Delete it or not your personal attack is there and shows your true intentions.

I stated why it was bullshit, was not speaking to you, but YOU decided to come in and get personal and start all this name calling.

Now you're just being petulant.

Not the last 2 games.
Somebody looked at the ypc for both backs after the first two games and stats for both backs are all but equal.

Neither guy is setting the world on fire.

Like I said, if we want to mix things up that's cool. But Jones has not played dominating football to the point that it's a no-brainer, imo.

What I'm wondering here is, since how much of the run game for both Morris and Jones has been hurt by OL injuries, how much is due to scheme/play-calling/adjustments by opposing teams and/or less-than optimal play calling-by whoever is actually doing it-haven't sorted them selves out enough for accurate finger-pointing wouldn't it be a bit premature to discussing trading a player without knowledge of how much of the deterioration is his fault?

As has been mentioned, the noticecable decline in Jones production as well suggests that something more than just one player's ability is operating here-I think likely more than one, perhaps a combination of the potential factors I mentioned above.

P.S. to provide some useful information on a topic mentioned above here are the number of rush attempts by Morris and Jones game-by-game.

It seems like a pretty easy decision to me serv. You can add the beat writers, Howie Long and now Casserly too.

All now say that Alfred isn't a downhill, north-south runner that fits what Scot wants. I mentioned that months ago, and people went insane. @NFLosophy was the first to recognize it, and he isn't even a Skins fan.

Scot wants a Frank Gore type, not an east-west zone blocking runner.

Matt Jones, 63 for 249 yards and 3 TDs.

Alfred 91 for 302 and 0 TDs.

You trade him right now, or you get nothing in return. Scot isn't paying him next year.

Pretty simple decision--although a painful one. Do we want an extra 3rd or 4th round pick? Or do we want nothing?

Howie long...running back expert?

Bro, Howie long knows as much about running backs as rob riggle.

No, the idea that one should consider it is the no-brainer. That was my point all along. I am not in favor of playing any player if they aren't performing. Morris has been getting the "starts" so one would assume he is the #1...if the run game isn't working, the idea that a change should be at least considered...not a bullshit proposal.

Yeah, Howie Long doesn't know anything about football.

So are we going to do the square peg-round hole nonsense like RG3 and let him walk for nothing?

Or would a 3rd or 4th round pick be a more intelligent decision?

Pretty clear.....just not sure Dan will let him do it.

Pretty clear to who? You?

Howie doesn't know a damn thing about being a running back..don't misquote me, please.

A couple thoughts:

If the team wants to demote Morris and move Jones up on the depth chart thats great, but then it would probably be a good idea to HAVE a depth chart. Right now we have one guy randomly getting 10 carries in a game and the other guy getting 8. If the powers that be a actually pick a guy and that happens to be Jones, wonderful.

We are not getting anything for Morris. Not a 2nd, not 3rd or even a 4th. Maybe a 6th. If that. Nobody is giving up more than a conditional late rounder for half a season's services of a dude struggling through a contract year.

Dumping Morris is dumb. Even if you want to start Jones. Until the team actually figures out how to run the ball, ditching players because they arent successful running the ball is foolish. In my opinion.

Never did understand the fanduel mentality during the season.

Our RB situation might be in flux but we do seem to have some talent at the position.

If there is the determination during the bye week 'self scouting' sessions by the coaches that some hierarchy changes need to be made then fine.

Perhaps all are still adapting to the nuances brought in by Callahan, don't know, but throwing away players who have shown production over the years and are still fairly stout is a waste of assets. Particularly during this years evaluations.

Alf not making his benchmark this year will be seen by others and value diminishes any way, plus we always seem to hold our own higher than others.... they'll wait until he's free and clear to pick him up.

Of course, there are those 'panic moves' caused by injury but don't think 2nd round picks ala Gibbs/Cerrato are available any more.

No offense McD, but this is crazy talk. We're not talent rich enough to consider relying on a rookie and a guy who has shown flashes, but also has shown he can't stay healthy. I won't be surprised to see Alfred leave at the end of this year, and that sucks because he's a guy who has produced, and produced impressively as well as a guy who you feel good about rooting for; I still cannot figure out how Gruden can't adapt his scheme at all to fit the talents of the players he has, but I guess we're going to see what kind of success such reliance on a scheme will bring us.

Hate to see Alfred leave, but I think it will probably happen at this point. But not during the season, that would be incredibly foolish, imo.
