It is time to feed the beast again. You have Jones nursing a toe injury, Spencer Long proving he is a capable guard, and a Jets defense that is elite vs the pass. A win with Alfred getting 60/70 percent of the carries(Chris Thompson getting almost all of the rest), will help this team enormously.
Alfred has also shown he can catch for those 2 or 3 times a game, and I trust him in the crucial carries more than Jones right now.

This platoon system is not working right now. Give the kid a week off, unless Alf gets hurt.

While I agree, I have zero faith in Gruden to do so. He is enamored with his system. The players aren't as relevant.

Jets have the #2 rushing defense in the league...as well as the #2 passing defense in the league.

We are pretty much in for a hell of a fight regardless of what we do.

Their running defensive rating is inflated in my opinion. Ryan Matthews rushed for over 100 against them, and the Browns, Colts and Dolphins do not have the talent we have in the running game. Their pass defense is very strong.

Short passing game, screens, etc to keep the chains moving. Pound Alfred and get their defense playing on their heels.

Read Gruden's quotes. He says sort of, he has no answer when the running games goes flat. Well, this week he can work to fix that. Let's see what he can come up with when the Morris plan gets stopped at the line of scrimmage. Gruden's got some creativity, but I don't see his ideas and Callahan's matching up well when we become predictable with the run.

Much easier to stop the run when it's our only threat.

Teams know Gruden is afraid to call plays that might make Kirk look bad. He's protecting his boy, to cover his own ass.

Every time we've done a misdirection play (that I can remember), it's worked this year. I realize you don't want to go back to that well too often, but more than once a game is OK, imo. I think a little more creativity in the playcalling would be a good thing.

Interesting quote from Tandler. Sometimes things aren't what we believe:

.@johnnylocal @D_A_76 @redlake44 Then why is Morris career 4th-quarter avg. per carry by far his worst of any quarter?

8 carries. I don't care what you think of him, no running back gets a rhythm going with 8 total carries.

Alfred, for his own good, should not re-sign here. It's a bitch to be the best/most consistent offensive weapon on a team, and lose your role to a coaches pet.

It's 2015. Not 1986. There are a few options here. One of course would be to follow the lead of other SB teams, and play the hot hand. Like New England and Denver. I guess New England's RBs should just ask for a trade too?

In hindsight, we probably should have traded RG3 and Morris before the year began. Of course, that would have taken a high level of intelligence and big balls. Something we are still trying to find in this organization.

Instead, we extended RG3, and now may not get a draft pick for either player at the end of this year.

It's decisions like that which accelerate or decelerate a building process.

I see. It's ok today FOR YOU to know more than the guys in charge.

Isn't Alfred a free agent at the end of the year? He doesn't have to ask for a trade. He just needs to go elsewhere.

BTW, they usually aren't going to the "hot hand". They're going to the "preferred hand".

Alfred got 25 carries for 121 yards against the Fins. Gruden followed that up for him with 18 carries, then 6.

Please stop embarrassing yourself talking about Gruden riding the hot hand.

34 rushing yards. Total.

I'm stunned. For a team that claims to be a power running one we can't even muster more than 9 yards per quarter...unacceptable

Well, I don't think any offensive line in the league is going to lose 3 starters over 2 weeks and then be counted on to produce at a high level.

Ty Nsekhe was released by the Rams after last season, when they gave up the most sacks in franchise history. Great vote of confidence there.

Josh LeRibeus is mediocre. He's been tried at 3 different positions not because he is versatile but because he has stunk at each of the others he previously tried to pay.

I didn't expect the Redskins OL to have a great day today against the Jets.

The passing game, though, was almost as impotent.

The real failure to me came on defense where the DL and LBs are healthy but are just not producing. 221 yards rushing today against after letting the Falcons run the ball down our throats a week ago?

Jason Hatcher had zero tackles, zero sacks, zero turnovers.

Where is Stephen Paea? This guy was supposed to have outside rush speed from a down position and has shown us bupkis so far.

Yeah Mike - I hear you, but half our OL starters were out against one of the best defenses in the league. The two things that doomed us today were Cousins poor play and the inability of our DL to put any pressure whatsoever on Fitzpatrick. He had all day back there today, all day. Tough game to watch. Starting to think we may be heading for a horrific season and a top draft pick.

Yeah, I'm scratching my head here. We didn't even average a 1st down a quarter running. Where was young? I just hope morris isn't going to end up regressing and not have a season like he normally does for us.

The run game took a hit when Lauvao went out, there is no doubt about that. The offensive line is having trouble opening holes no matter who is back there running. Part of it is that teams don't fear getting beat over the top. So they can sneak the extra guy down knowing that it will either be a run or short pass. I really think that's what this teams needs right now is some plays that stretch the field. Something to open things up. Maybe the O-Line isn't good enough to block that long or to open up holes in the running game. But they need to be able to get those defenders out of the box.

After all the high picks wasted on Griffin, most personnel people around the NFL would tell you that the Redskins need a couple of years of top 10 picks that come in as impact players to make up for the talent we lost from those picks.

We have some players on defense, but we don't have any dominant player on defense. We need to select one in 2016.

We have some guys on offense, including the OL, that look to be significant contributors here down the road. But we need a wide receiver with size and speed to challenge the defense week in and week out.

With Garcon 30 years old and set to count $10M against the cap next season and DeSean Jackson not someone at 29 you are going to count on to play 16 games at 177 pounds, some change will be coming here.
