MLB 2013 (Primarily non-Nats/O's

Eh, Nats have been posting awesome attendance records all season long. I'm not ready to crap on them yet.

Their season is definitely falling apart though.

Bryce Harper walk-off HR - they needed that one.

It sucked to lose yesterday after battling back from 4-0 and 7-3 down. But I'm more than content with taking three of four on the road from the penciled-in NL champs. And Harper didn't hurt us in the series except for the fatal blow yesterday. I can live with that. I know the fans who were at PNC East were disappointed though. :)

20 games over, 100 games in and going to Miami. Life is good in the 'Burgh.

I'm just glad that to pick a fight, you have to turn to teams that you know I despise. :2thumbsup:

Not picking a fight...but when someone says "things are good in the 'Burgh" it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit. :)

Not to mention, Sh!tsburgh already has a nickname. :D

Once again, 20 over, 1.5 back of St. Louis. One more vs. the Marlins, then it's home for FIVE against the division leader.

May there be a NEW division leader when the dust settles.

RAISE IT.

As 7pm approaches, I'm starting to get that knot in my stomach. Five in four days versus the best team in baseball ain't the most attractive proposition. But it's put up or shut up time. Biggest series in the 'Burgh since the 1992 NLCS.

LET'S GO BUCS!!!

Orioles need to sweep the Astros & Mariners this week to stay in the AL East race. At least the Rays & Sox play each other...

1/2 game removed from first place in the division, and the best record in baseball.

It's July 29th folks. Any questions have been have been answered. The Pirates are legitimate contenders. Do I expect to win the World Series? No. Do I expect to win the division? No. Are we in the conversation when talking about the top 5 teams in the sport? You bet your ass we are.

LET'S GO BUCS!!!!

On July 30th, 2013, at 11:22pm, I'm posting this as a fan of the team with THE BEST RECORD in ALL of Major League Baseball!!!

Cards don't want none.

RAISE IT!!!

Make it FOUR in a row over the (formerly) best team in baseball!!!

Bucs go for the FIVE GAME sweep of St. Louis tomorrow!!!

Every single team in baseball continues to look up at us!!!!

It's really nice to go from 20 years of worst, TO FIRST!!!!!

Meanwhile, the Orioles got destroyed by the Astros, in Baltimore. Not cool, Butters!

RE: The 5-game sweep:

That feat's so rare that no one was even tweeting about the possibility shortly after the Pirates finished off the Cards on Wednesday night, with Mark Melancon working a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the save, his fifth of the year and third since then-NL saves leader Jason Grilli got injured last week, and there's scant wondering about it on the Internet. The 1927 Yankees did it twice, but they a) were the 1927 Yankees and b) swept a sub-.500 White Sox team and an awful, 51-103 Red Sox team in those series. (Update: The 2006 Yankees swept a pretty good Red Sox team, Ben Kabak notes.) The Cardinals are a lot better than those clubs.

*I* didn't consider it a possibility until after last night's game. And you won't find a bigger homer than I am.

Incidentally, the last time we swept a fiver was against the Giants in 1996.

The Cardinals haven't been swept in a series of at least five games since 1916...against the NEW YORK (Baseball) Giants.

The Pittsburgh Pirates would like to welcome the Boston Red Sox to the exclusive .600-plus club.
