Foles from the pocket is a better qb than anyone the Redskins currently have.

Sanchez doesn't beat out Foles on any even playing field.

I think Kelly learned that the last half of 2014.

That's probably why Kelly is so hot to jump on Mariota.

Besides, I will take Foles as a throw in to the deal instead of a middle round pick, not in place of a #1 or #2.
 
Foles never got the job back because it was obvious it wasn't him that got the wins, it was the system. Butt fumble scored...that tells you something
 
Two years from now Foles will still be playing in the league. Sanchez likely won't be.
 
You're guessing. You may be right but you have no real proof of it.
 
Overall talent at the quarterback position in the NFL is so mediocre that both Foles and Sanchez will have 10+ year pro careers.
 
I agree with BD about Foles. I think he has solid NFL-level skills. I think he's miscast in Kelly's circus offense though--he looks to me like a classic drop-back passer.

Which, in terms of this discussion, makes him interesting as a possible part of any trade with Philly. I see Foles as precisely the kind of guy Jay Gruden would like to have behind center.
 
Foles is a damn good QB - just a bad fit for Kelly's offense as Om said.
 
Eh...to each their own. I personally don't see the big deal about him or what he offers.

Did you have the same feelings about DeSean Jackson?

56 catches, 1,169 yards with some of the worst quarterbacking in the league.

Watch what Foles did with Jackson and the other WRs in 2013.
 
I guess you are going to use what DeSean Jackson CAN do to what Nick Foles did? that is like Timmy Smith is one of the best running backs in the league because of his super bowl performance, or that Emmitt Smith is one of the best RBs in the league because of his numbers.

Foles looked good because of what Jackson, McCoy, Maclin, and that racist Cooper did. The fact that Butt Fumble stepped in and they didnt miss a beat proves it.
 
Some of us seem to have a different opinion about that Foles may or may not be, Mike.
 
I see that. I have the opinion that he is just another Kevin Kolb.
 
I think you can also factor in that evidently there is a divide between Kelly and Foles and Sanchez was starting in part because of that.

I would not say that the Eagles didn't miss a beat. With Sanchez being himself Philly quickly fell out of playoff contention from a 9-3 start.

The fact also remains that Foles lead the team to the playoffs last year and finished with 26 touchdowns and 2 or 3 interceptions.

So, I don't get where he is a bum that is on a level with John Beck or Brandon Weedin.

but, quick question: how did the Iggles go 9-3 under Foles when he played in 8 games? that would make a mysterious 4 games where he won when he wasn't even in the game.

Sanchez - 5 wins
Foles - 5 wins

Interesting....almost identical passing yards, touchdowns, INTs, passer rating, AND wins.

I have never understood the thinking behind wanting a team to avoid a move they believe can truly help them, based only on concerns that some other team in the division might benefit from it. In this case, if the Skins get an offer from the Eagles they love, I'd hope they would feel the same way.

Let them have Mariota if they make us an offer that can really help us. If he's great, he's great. We play them twice a year, just like we played them when they had McNabb, Cunningham, Jaws, whoever. And like we played Dallas against Staubach, Aikman, Romo. And the Giants against Simms, Eli, whoever. Division games are always close, and every year it seems they split the two games. There are exceptions of course, but not to the point I'd ever let my personnel decisions be decided solely on the basis of one player. Not even a QB.

If the move to get our own team helps us become good again in our own right, I'll take our chances in open competition against anybody.

Oh ... and also, I'm not all that sold on Mariota being anywhere close to a sure thing.
 
Your opinion tr1. If pre-draft QB hype has proven anything over the years, it's that there are no guarantees that college success will equate to pro success. The odds don't favor Mariotta being an all-world QB. If the Eagles offer us a King's Ransom to move up, we would be foolish not to do it because we're afraid of a kid like Mariotta.
