McCloughan's draft plan

I think even if they keep a guy like Bowen, he struggles to even make the team.

I'm not sure what will happen with Hatcher. I think he gets anther year to figure it out or get added to the list of d-line duds the Redskins have signed and drafted.
 
Bowen won't be kept because his dead cap charge is light while Hatcher would still count $5.5M even if we cut him.

What he in essence becomes is a situational inside pass rusher in 2015 who is being overpaid for likely production.

Cheer up, at least it is not a Haynesworth contract.
 
so...is next season another ugly losing season as we engage in the first stages of a total rebuild?
 
I think the D gets better with coaching alone. Could see the O starting slow with new O-line but coming on later as they bond.

Could see a 7-9, 8-8 season honestly.
 
that's pretty positive thinking Win! none of us know obviously......but I think we really are embarking on a major rebuild...and everything that implies.
 
No doubt there's work ahead, and I in no way seeing us making it to paloffs or anything. Trying to view it in increments. We won 4 with these shit lines, horrible secondary coaching and 3 different qb's.

Next preseason should sort out the QB spot, whether it's Bob, Kurt, or other. Steady QB play should give us 2 more wins at minimum.

Jettisoning TyPo and adding Callahan is another win just because.

The combination of getting rid of HazHeem, another yr in Jays system for the O, and a couple hungry draft picks that wI'll produce better than our broken vets should be another win or 2.

The Browns own both the 12th and 19th picks. It seems like some of the top OL would still be available at pick 12 this year. And if not OL, it's possible the safety from Alabama will still be on the board.

Maybe not elite players like one would hope to net with the 5th pick, but still two very good starters for our roster.

I'm not sure Cleveland has much of a choice. Hoyer is reportedly pissed for being benched and wants out.

That leaves them with Manziel who just checked into rehab.

Their QB situation looks worse than ours.
 
They could just as easily look for the next Montana- 3rd, Wilson - 3rd, or Brady - 6th, while building other areas of desperate need on their team.

Long time between now and April.
 
If the Browns front office was capable of mining the next Wilson or Montana in the middle rounds they wouldn't currently be stuck with Hoyer and Manziel 😃

You bet Haslam wants to move up.

He seems to be where Snyder was as an owner 10 years ago.

Lots of learning to do.

We don't know how predictable the new GM will be. He may have different priorities in mind.

Maybe he engineers a move for a qb to end the merry go round and start over with someone Gruden thinks he can work with.

Mike Rizzo with the Nationals has surprised a lot of people the past few years with big moves made when they were not expected.

Who would have thought Lerner would sign off on the $200M Scherzer deal for 2015?

I don't think Griffin should take anything for granted with McCloughan. Similarly if I were McCoy I would not expect to see the field much in 2015.

His skill set defines him as a solid backup in the NFL at 28/29.

I noticed he doesn't seem averse to grabbing an OL in the first round if he is graded highly. Having three of his OL draftees at the 49ers being starters between 4 and 7 years after they were drafted and 3 more at the Seahawks being starters does raise my hopes a bit, I must confess.
 
That's an intriguing thought of hitting on multiple UDFA's. Seems like we'll find a decent guy once about every 5 years or so. Players like Fletch, even tho we didn't necessarily "find" him.
 
Well, we used to do a lot better and there's no reason we can't again.

Remember all the UDFAs the Redskins won titles with?

Neal Olkewicz, Mel Kaufman, Joe Jacoby, Jeff Bostic, Mike Nelms, etc.
 
Oh it's no doubt it'll take Redskins fans a minute to see draft picks regularly contributing. Like the discovery of fire kind of shock.
