I've got word that the first rollout for my latest book will start in mid-August. Knowing me, I'm going to enthuse about it a bit. I may also try to recruit help in spreading the word.

We're a go!

Here it is. Please share and if you enjoy this kind of thing support.

Congrats!

Brother - we are proud of your accomplishments and as always, anything BGO and our members can do to help promote your work, just say the word.

Should I post the inside baseball post?

Is it a sequel to the last one or a new story? Well I guess even a sequel or continuation is a new story, let me rephrase, new premise.

No, it's a brand new story. It's a Jewish fantasy noir. Someone described it as Who Framed Roger Rabbit meets Michael Chabon.

I've been given the official go ahead by the publisher to start talking about the new book. With Boone's permission, I'm also going to ask for your help.

This first level is easy (and a little inside baseball)

A lot of small presses start out by launching a crowdfunder. This serves three purposes:

1) It generates pre-sales so when the book officially releases, it works the algorithms on social media, Amazon, etc. so that it can stand shoulder to shoulder with the big boys. In this way, by milking pre-sales, one of my previous books opened up at number 16 on Amazon's best seller list and then stayed there for about three months.

2) It generates (hopefully) enthusiasm and serves as a way to advertise the book and get people excited about it.

3) It defrays the risk to the publisher.

So the first step in Hornytown Chutzpah's journey is going to be a Kickstarter that goes live on September 2. The reason I'm talking about this now is that apparently even Kickstarter is all about the algorithms and so the more people who express interest in the project the more KS pushes it. What I'm asking (and I'm writing too much because asking is actually hard for me.) is that as many of you go to KS and click the "Notify me" button. This will not cost you anything, but will tell KS that people are interested. So, if you click the link below and express interest in the project... and maybe spread the word through your own channels I would appreciate it a lot.

Thanks!

Andrew

I still have A Halo of Mushrooms, found it during the move. ;)

Awww... I still love that book and I sort of remember us talking about it :)

I had to register for Kickstarter but I got it done.

I think I managed to click on it, but I'm not entirely sure. It says it's saved, but it also gave me an odd message when I click notify me. So, I don't know if you can tell who has asked to be notified, but if you don't see a Shaq then let me know and I'll try again.

Thanks! I can ask the publisher. I don't have direct access to the list.

I got a notification it looks like it went through.

The title sounds intreaguing. I don't really read anymore, I spend what little spare time I have between work and 2 kids, 2 cats and a wife posting meaningless dribble on this board, but I am intrigued so looking forward to buying the book and letting it sit on a bookshelf for 5 years before I get around to reading it. :p

I don't read as much, but I find audiobooks much more attractive because you can listen to them while doing other stuff.

I don't know if this will be cool here to anyone but me, but the publisher has arranged a live book chat with Cat Rambo. Besides being a major award winning author, Cat used to be the President of the Science Fiction Writers Guild of America which means everyone in the industry knows her.

Some advanced praise from a damned fine author

This is a little cool. World Con is happening this week. For those not in the know, World Con host the Hugos (the Oscars for SFF literature.) I wasn't able to attend this year, but that doesn't mean that I don't have a presense there. A friend posted this!
Btw, if you have not clicked the notify button for my new fantasy novella I'd appreciate it. I'd love to pump up the number to at least fifty before September.ttps://www.kickstarter.com/projects/atthisarts/hornytown

Here's the link with the notify button.
