Cutting Kliff makes no sense to me. If we didn’t want to play his style of offense, then why did we draft JD5?

I dunno how to feel about Kliff, I don't think it's a catastrophic loss...but, at least, it's nice to see loyalty get in the way of getting rid of Whitt. loyalty let him stay calling plays too long, but at least it didn't go further.

I'm not even sure how you can make this comparison. Ron Rivera was essentially the General Manager who didnt have a winning season here. Quinn still took us to the NFC Championship game last year after winning more than 10 games for the first time since 1991

Why? He's not satisfied with what we had, and wants to make it better. Where is the problem with that?

Well if have to blame somebody for our struggles, and JD5 is your favorite player and therefore blameless (even though his inability to stay healthy was arguably our biggest problem), then you would look to blame people like AP, DQ, KK, basically anybody else.

I’m not sure either how I feel, especially if he goes to the Giants or Bears. However, anyone who has designed QB runs as much as KK has to be replaced. I thought it was just JD5 but watching him run Mariota and a 40 yr old Johnson made me second thought him staying. I agree injuries suck but how many of these injuries are because of the offense? I watched him here in AZ with Kyler and saw similar issues. Let’s see what’s next.As far as Whitt, should of been done earlier

I saw an article that was suggesting the heat on Kliff was coming from Adam Peters, specifically regarding JD5's development. Perhaps it had to do with a lack of progression from season one to season two, not much in JD5's skills or ability, but maybe the style of play, the lack of evolving away from certain things that you sort of look past with a rookie QB. It makes me wonder if the heat on Kliff was trickling down from Peters through the HC and maybe Quinn meeting with Kingsbury was a last ditch effort to ward off his firing but whatever answers Quinn was getting from Kliff, it became apparent it was no longer going to work. Add that to the fact that Kliff is likely going to end up a HC somewhere, maybe college. I wasn't in the camp of wanting Kingsbury gone but also didn't feel that attached to him as coordinator either, I suppose you can say I was neutral on him staying or leaving.

That said, the search for a new O-coordinator will be interesting because I am not sure there is a "hot commodity" waiting in the wings like there was the offseason we all assumed Ben Johnson would be the next head coach. There are tons of options, and I think whoever we bring in it will be interesting to look up the type of offense they ran, the play calling style etc etc......I am of the mind that you need youth & innovation, someone who can help grow with a young QB, but we shall see.

Losing KK is not great. He had his share of struggles, but he also had his share of successes.

Replacing both coordinators in a potential hot seat year for the head coach is also a pretty major issue.

We're going to hire two new coordinators and then we have the potential to turn around and hire a new HC and replace them both again?

Plus, JD5 likes Kingsbury.

I don't think this is a good thing for us and one of the coordinator hires almost has to be a guy with HC aspirations that the front office likes. We're going to be boxing ourselves in quite a bit here.

I thought the offense was pretty good considering what we had to work with.

I hope Quinn has a plan and it works and he has a great year and is our guy for awhile. Otherwise this is a mess. If this is coming from Peters - what was his plan for JD5? I agree, he runs too much. But that is his skillset and why you draft the guy to begin with. Otherwise you would have drafted Drake Maye, right? This opens up some concerns with AP as well, imo.

Yeah, but the space he designs in tight spaces fails to provide the necessary space for players to thrive in that space. Because the space within his space occupies a tangential space, he lacks the creative space required to produce in that space. The team must create space by removing him from the organization’s space to better utilize their available space.

Yeah but he was hitting all of his marks.

Process improvement is not linearly upwards.

That's not how it works.

For those of you who think it's a disastrous decision by AP (and I can see why you'd think it's bad, don't get me wrong) -
You can consider this as KK giving the TEAM an out. Maybe they weren't going to fire him, but he was going to leave regardless. Maybe he was going to leave so they talked it over and decided on "mutually parting" to save face on the PR front. It wouldn't look good if he walked away, it wouldn't make this job look enticing. As it is, this job has problems on its looks.

^^ lots of conjecture. I am just spinning it so some of you can sleep at night since you seem so worried about KK leaving.

**

However, if you want to just plainly analyze what's happening visibly and not use as much conjecture, visibly -
DQ and AP decided, based on what they see (and they see more than Galdi, Keim, <insert all names that get quoted>), that KK was not the right person for the job. That is what is implied by "mutual parting of ways." So, they moved on because at the macro level, a lame duck OC who you don't believe in is not necessarily better than a new OC who may very well be worse statistically, but you want a chance to work with and see what you can make happen in that relationship.

At the end of the day, taking the words at face value, KK wants to move on to other opportunities, and the team is fine with that because they didn't think he was the long-term answer. There is usually more than we can easily see there, so if we trust the org at all here, that should be fine regardless of what happens next year.

I agree. And I’ll say it more harshly. Feeling you need to move on from both of your hand-picked Coordinators after 2 seasons does not reflect well on Dan Quinn's decision-making and represents a significant failure on his part. This from a guy who supposedly learned so much after getting fired in Atlanta.

Haha what? The offense was not the issue with this team. Kliff made do with what he could. Meanwhile our defense couldn’t stop anything under a “defensive” HC. Imagine for a second the Skins didn’t draft Jayden or Maye last year. Think about how poorly these last two seasons would’ve been. Peters eye for talent is questionable right now. His free agent signings have been suspect too. Just really poor roster management after an even worse Ron tenure and history of poor roster decisions.

I’ll add to your harshness: this also significantly dampens my thoughts on Peter’s decision making, coupled with our offseason last year and he is showing to be a significant failure as well.

But I leave some space for details that we don’t know that led to all of this. There is always some of that in the background that affects the news stories. So, we’ll see.

I agree to an extent. The problem is JD has not been able to stay healthy in his system. My WAG is Quinn wanted to change A LOT of what Kliff was doing with JD. And that was the end.

yeah that part absolutely is not a good look.

I still do look back my own speculation that Kingsbury told them he was going to actively be looking at a HC job and they didn't want the OC hiring process to drag on, so both sides parted way. That they would have preferred to keep Kingsbury and this wasn't a performance based move.

Wasn't it more about him learning more about himself and how to run an organization? Not necessarily evaluating coordinators

Or is by chance another way of him evaluating his mistakes and trying to correct them?

Yes, I was in the process of responding to Boone's post similarly. These moves have me questioning AP much more than I had to date. Fingers will be crossed they have a game plan in place at least to some respect. He has placed a hell of a lot of faith in his HC.

One thing that has not apparently changed post-Snyder - the turmoil and lack of stability in this organization.
I mean this was a Snyder type season from beginning to end. In fact it was one of the worst in franchise history. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. I dont ever remember us finishing a season with the 32nd rank defense. Not once in my 59 years of life.

28-3 Dan Quinn never forget.

I’m sure he won’t. Did you hear his speech about finishing?

And for the record, I actually like DQ, but this was my first thought when he was hired, that Super Bowl was one of the worst coaching performances I’ve ever seen.
