As far as 'tone' goes, we would all do well to just focus on our own posting styles and worry less about others. If you look at posts that piss members off and derail threads, it is usually the add-on snark some can't resist tacking on to posts that causes problems. There's a big difference between 'Kingsbury is a meh OC and always will be because...' and 'Only an idiot can fail to see that Kingsbury is a meh OC and always will be because...'

But there are a few here who just can't seem to avoid starting with the snark - which adds nothing to the conversation.

We barely moderate here. We don't even have official 'moderators'. You know why? Because we expect folks to self-moderate.

Now - back to overreacting to the Kliff Kingsbury situation :)

Anyone that uses terms like idiot, moron, loser, etc when talking about others (both members here and members of the organization) is telling the world more about themselves than their intended target.

Are we having fun yet? Our frustration from this year seems to have boiled over. Thank God this season ends today for us.

Small changes are needed when course correcting. KK has one more year IMO. Correct the DEF by showing Whitt the door and stay the course with KK for one more year.

I hated the DQ hire when it happened. I'm not sure we were prepared for Johnson's rejection so we ended up settling with DQ.

A name I haven’t seen mentioned for OC - Bobby Slowik.

Despite how things ended for him in 2024 with the Texans, he did still have 2023. He worked with AP for a long time in SF and I believe he interviewed here for the HC gig in 2024

I do hope we do better by the way

I think, if Kingsbury moves or is moved on, they will try and get a proven OC. Slowik, like Joe Whitt Jr., has significant NFL experience but only 2 seasons as an NFL OC with very mixed results. I think they will want someone who has proven he can consistently mold great NFL offenses. Or they could take a chance on the hottest college guy they can find. We don't need to hire another 'prove it' level coordinator.

Interesting that, although with only a small number voting so far, our poll shows us exactly split between moving on from Kingsbury or keeping him (with the only caveat, some feel it is dependent on who is available).

Vote if you have an opinion.

I voted yes but I don't think any of these opinions are going to be well-founded. There's what we can see, what we think may be happening, and then what we conclude. A lot of this "yes" is rooted in the discord in those pressers, some of the calls I see (including some that have changed). I don't think KK is particularly happy here. I expect him to want to leave this offseason. I also don't know if Russini is right in her article, but if there are any issues in the working relationships between KK and DQ or KK and AP, that would also mean he probably has to go, if it's to a point AP or DQ feel it has to happen.

There's simply a lot we don't know.

Listening to Keim's podcast and on the Junkies.

A. Kliff will get HC interviews and has some interest in them
B. He was vague about whether the team would keep him, felt like he didn't know, seemed to gently challenge Russini's report as if the reality is something lighter than what she protrayed
C. Jayden really digs playing for Kliff, ditto some other players on offense
D. Seemed to hint that it may depend on who becomes free
E. This part isn't so much Keim but if Kliff leaves expects the assistants like Blough leaving with him. Also Mariota.

The Texans had a goodish offense (say like 12th or 13th best) in 2023 and were bad in 2024 (like 26th) (I didn't look up any numbers so these are estimates). Whereas Kliff had a good offense in 2024 (like 5th) and a midish offense in 2025 (20th or so) so while Slowik wasn't terrible his two year run in Houston did not produce the results that Kliff did in his two years here.

So I agree that doesn't seem like an upgrade.

I voted no in the poll. The Athletic NFL Football podcast compared him to Greg Roman: Effective but with limitations. I think that is fair. I also think he is better than guys like Scott Turner, Eric Bieniemy, and Matt Cavanaugh. Don't know if he is as good as KOC, McVay, and Shanahan (from 2010 to 2019 we had some really good OC's). I think its a better not possibility than the next guy is downgrade not upgrade, but you never know for sure.

The poll is now triple 7s. Sounds like a winner!
Was. I just voted no. One thing this offense can do is score. And it has done it without JD as well. The part of this team that is terrible is the defense. And that is even more frustrating because our head coach is supposed to be a defensive genius.

Can I get an official ruling on the use of idiot, moron, and loser in reference to Snyder (... maybe Vinny and Brucifer too)

I am interested in who the leak is. It was leaked to a national reporter rather than beat reporter so it probably is somebody higher up who would naturally have more contact with them. I hate leaks because it is almost always somebody working their own agenda rather than the teams agenda. Russini made it seem like it was somebody in the organization and not an agent.

Sounds like Keim doesn't know a lot at this point.

What he knows is he expects Kliff to get HC interviews, and he's interested. He knows that Jayden is a Kliff fan.

He seemed to hint, in a small way, so I might be misreading him, that its possible Russini heard something but thinks the story is hyperbole. That is me extrapolating Keim speak which I am generally good at but sometimes I miss.

As to Jayden, might be an interesting combination is giving him the worst weapons among this 2024 QB class (with at least some possible evidence -- mom, Nabers that it irritates him), and also if they yanked away the offensive coordinator that he has a rapport with and they make him learn a new offense.

No one has repeated this. Especially those with real, longtime, respected sources who protect their reputation.
