Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

glad we won...but LMAO just the same. memory can be selective:
So can perspective, apparently.

- Redskins without starting offensive guard

- Redskins without starting safety and a one-legged CB

- last minute drive was time (well over 6 mins when it started) and penalty aided (big time). it's not like the team was looking at 1:30 on the clock and had to depend on Kirk to "matriculate" the ball downfield

Right. We should have used the hurry-up there and scored quickly to ensure the Eagles get at least one more possession. Situational awareness is for suckers, let's manufacture something irrelevant to criticize.

- offensive/defensive kaka the entire first half and when the game was on the line

happy with the win? you betcha. did it look like a master in control? no. not really.
Because that's what everyone is saying.

but it was good enough which is an improvement over the last couple years. do I still believe we are done for if the opposing team builds an early lead? yup. do I think we have faced a number of teams plagued by average to poor Quarterbacking - other than the gints? yup. do I think the defense is still the key to success thus far? yup.

so.....it's a good thing we won. some of us depart protocol when it comes to perspective.
Thanks to "some of you" for standing up for ... what is it you're standing up for again?

like I said - perspectives differ. not sure where the best team thought came from since that wasn't alluded to in my post. progress where? that is an empty statement without qualifiers. 2-2 clearly suggests improvement in some areas and problems in others. I have been optimistic about the defense since preseason. the offense has been spotty, disappears in the second half. that's reality. the running game, take away Thompson's one run yesterday, averaged 2.7 yards. not undercutting the giddiness and positive vibes....just sharing a dose of reality. up to everyone to individually manage their emotions.

You're demanding qualifiers for the obvious?

FFS man, we won on a 4th quarter drive yesterday by our starting QB. That is a first in the young career of Kirk Cousins. Is that not progress? Qualifier 1.

The run game was the focus of our opposition's defense...a game plan to make our QB beat them. I know you have have a better grasp of strategy than that, you're a smart guy. Well...

...Cousins did that, because late in the game their defense was tired from those seemingly innocuous runs earlier in the game. Qualifier 2.

Well, it was late in the 4th quarter, the game on the line and our OL dominated their DL for a 14 play drive to win the game, leaving no time on the clock for a comeback. That is something we have not seen here in a very long time.

Emotions? We're happy for a win! Is there something wrong with that? You sure make it seem so. Is there anyone here suggesting we're going to a Super Bowl this year? No! Perspective?

well...some things never change!

I'm ecstatic you're happy! that seems to have limited bleed-over into tolerance for different points-of-view. but that's cool!

had to drag it out of you - but muchas gracias for the specificity!

the run game is going to be the focus of every opposing defense - thanks for the front page news! wonder why. but I digress. how we deal with that fact is what will be interesting. oops...who's been posting that thought for several weeks now. you need to quicken the personal shutter speed so you don't miss these thoughts.

send as many strawmen over the fence as you like. we all know what was top most in everyone's mind going into the fourth quarter: they're going to blow this against a second rate team. they pulled it out.....that is a change and that is grounds for celebrating. I prefer a balanced approach - happy to win....not going too far in the other direction.

tending to my outlook on a football game seems to preoccupy you and some others. it's amusing.....but not something I will lose any sleep over. there are far more serious events unfolding in the world right now.

Skins actually had 5 starters out: LG, FS, WR, CB, MLB

Imagine for a second had RG3 been the QB yesterday. Then tell me there was no progress.

46 passes and threw for under 300 yards against a team that is reeling right now. I liked the final drive, but he did throw some really stupid passes. you guys are gonna lose it but im cheering for us to lose, I dont want to be a .500 team and consistently get shittier players, now that we have a decent gm, I want shots at the real talent for at least 2 seasons. then get a real qb if Rg3 hasnt panned out by then

You're in for a really, really depressing year. I mean miserable.

Oh, yeah, it's a Kirk Cousins thread.

We may have to move fansince's You Stand Corrected monologue to its own thread.

man! I salute you for persistence!

If we must. I get your pathological hatred for griffin. I'm long past RGIII as a Redskin.

As for Cousins, I have already made up my mind. I know where this leads - just like you did with Griffin. I do believe I posted my opinions on that during preseason. nothing has changed. all you have to do is shake your head and think "ok. I don't see it that way. I have a different set of criteria for evaluating things. time to press and enjoy the win"

I am honored and humbled by all the personal attention!

that such an august set of experts feels it worthy to duel over observations is it's own octane!

I'll take being happy after a win any day over the past years of mediocrity.

Well duh, the Eagles defense had a game plan against our unproven QB, force him to beat us...but weren't you the one demanding qualifiers when the obvious slaps you in the face? Glad I could oblige...just in case you missed it.

oops...who's been posting that thought for several weeks now. you need to quicken the personal shutter speed so you don't miss these thoughts.

Umm...the world doesn't revolve around you...most times these days your incessant need for more "qualifiers" gets tiring so I skip right over what you post. It's boring...because most times there is plenty of evidence, you just choose to ignore it in favor of trying to fit the "facts" into your narrative. It's a slow day at work so I chimed in today. Kinda wish I hadn't...just a reminder of how boring it can be to engage you.

Sorry bud, just challenging your discontent, but you can be miserable with a win...I enjoyed the outcome, however imperfect it was. I will enjoy it until with crap the bed again.

Be honest...you are still hoping Griffin can come back.

Man you guys get so worked up about stuff...Anyways I enjoyed seeing Cousins' "fired-up-edness" after the game. The kid clearly has a lot of passion to suceed. I think he has a long way to go to prove he can be a top flight QB, but you have to love his enthusiasm.

not here!

I've been following this team for over 50 years. I don't get too attached to any players at this point.

there's Sonny, Riggo, Mr Green, Joe Gibbs....and all the rest....Sean is almost there but he just wasn't on scene long enough. and I didn't understand him for a while.

You take what the other team gives you eagles are good against the run so are the falcons even though thru have given up like 6 rushing TD so Kirk has failed before when teams have shut down the run so hopefully we see more improvement
He nickle and dined the passing game yesterday if that's how we have to win then I'll take it

Interesting. I wonder how many QB's over the past decade have gone six games w/o a pick?

Through four games this year, only two starters remain who have yet to throw one ... Brady and Rodgers.

And for further intellectual stimulation ... Brady has three passes over 40, Rodgers has one. I haven't mustered sufficient curiosity at this point to see how may, if any, of those are actual deep passes vs RAC ... but someone else can feel free. :)

People use super bowl winning qbs as markers when it fits their points and then say "you can't compare them with the best and be fair"

It always is a grain of salt thing for me. Do I want the best? Yes. Do I think it's possible with every player to do so? No.

BBQ will be posted soon and will have an interesting tidbit on Cousin Kirk.

Yes, this is a shameless plug.
