How can you not bury him after the performance in live action? He did great in 7 on 7 no contact drills from what everyone says, but once he saw live action...he stumbles, fumbles the ball, and get injured trying to recover it....on a quick slant route?

Oh yeah, I know...the downward slide was all because Garcon dropped that pass on the first toss in pre-season for a potential TD...you know, the one that was thrown behind him.
 
Not to discount this article...but, just who the **** is Heath Evans?

The journeyman fullback who ended up with 579 rushing yards in his entire 10 year career? Or the blowhard dipshit from the NFL Network?

I must yell at my TV for him to STFU at least 2 times every show he is on.

Doesn't make what he is saying in the article untrue.
 
Heath Evans is a putz. he needs some training on how to build a grammatically correct sentence. more importantly, his condescending view doesn't account for the obvious: the experts don't uniformly agree.

this is backdoor rationalizing to protect bubbas in the fraternity. and it's nothing we haven't already heard.

I'll sleep better tonight! Captain Pick has a hamstring and concussion to point at for his decision-making and accuracy issues.
 
Actually, the experts agree universally and unanimously--fans don't know what the **** they're talking about.

Heath Evans used that article to trash the fans, blame Snyder, and suck off Bellicheat. Woo freaking Hoo...another cheap shot at Washington by a former "player" who didn't do shit but sit on some great teams.
 
I find it amusing that you guys spend most of your time on the site trashing the owner, coaches, and players yourselves - but if a journalist does it - they are sub-humans not worthy of living :)

pretty obvious that the coaches, owners and "experts" don't either. we have demonstrable evidence of that here for the last 20+ years! but those media experts - they sure make a nice living recirculating ideas controlled by those very same owners and coaches!

the problem with appeals to authority is that the object of affection actually has to be an expert, knowledgeable, etc.

fans? just the consumers. not entitled to anything more than a seat at the game and a $10 hot dog!

more often than not....one can read between the lines to see the agenda in play. definitely can hear it on the radio waves.

hey...if the media want to insult the billpayers- more power to them! and they do so with amazing regularity.

Not really that strange though. I root for the team, my father and brothers rooted for the team, I have been a dedicated fan for over 40 years. some jerkoff on television who decides he wants to take a shot at my team is always going to get trashed.

besides, Heath isn't qualified. He wasn't a good player or else he wouldn't have been on 5 teams in 10 years and only have around 500 yards rushing.
 
The media aren't the problem. The problem is those who cannot distinguish signal from noise.
 
I agree with that to a point. The mediots on PFTMZ keep trying to push their agenda of "redskins is racist" and, sure., it is just noise. But enough people hear that noise and being weak start to believe it. Even though its not true and never has been the case, they say it enough and its believed. They have a responsibility to have HONEST journalism done by people who are qualified to do so.

its like when we all were making fun of those "journalists" from the other sites not too long ago. we all got a kick out of it.

Again, very specifically, signing the fifth year option and then following that up with burying him is what doesn't make sense to me. The definitive message that they don't want him is in direct opposition to the decision to exercise the fifth year option.
 
They exercised the option for three reasons imho. One - to avoid the drama that not exercising would've created. Two - to reduce the pressure on Griffin so he could focus on his final shot to prove he could be the guy. And the obvious third reason, they wanted to give him one last chance to show he could be the guy in a more traditional offense.

I think what occurred was that the coaching staff saw enough between exercising the option and live play to conclude that Cousins had progressed and had far more potential to be a possible long-term QB.

Whatever the rationale, I guarantee you the decision was made by McCloughan. So people unhappy with it should take it up with him. I'm sure Gruden and McVay's input was heard, but that's a GM decision all the way.

There are members here who post lengthy diatribes and then admit they didn't actually watch the game. Don't kid yourself. The bottom line is - if you're trashing players, coaches, and ownership of your own team, it's beyond hypocritical to bash media folks for doing the same. I'm not arguing anyone is above criticism. I talking about the double-standard that's obvious there.

Because the only opportunity the coaches have to evaluate players is in a pre-season game. Riiiiight. And I didn't say the decision was a good one. I said I think that's what the thought process was.

Can you post that link? So far, I haven't seen any finger prints on any of the decision making.

No. I can't. But I'm noting that you just went on record with the belief that it's not the GM signing off on multi-million dollar deals. There's not a single player-related move that happens in the Redskins organization right now that isn't 100% approved by Scot McLoughan.

I think its no secret that Gruden didn't and doesn't care for Griffin. I don't know why, and at this point it doesn't really matter. He likes Cousins and he is going to bat for him.

Griffin didn't help himself that much though. He did underthrow Garcon (even though he should have caught that) and he did fumble the ball a lot. But, the plays weren't being called for him like they were for Cousins and McCoy. I get that they were trying to get him to be comfortable in the pocket, but they didn't let him roll out even once.

They had to give him one last shot...it was a no-brainer. When he failed, that was it. Really not hard to see for me.
