If you're winning, not much caring about how.
When you're losing, great stats don't mean squat.

Perhaps at some point Gruden is going to wake up and realize that Kirk Cousins is not yet Joe Montana.
With the score at 16-21 and the ball on the 4 yard line with 10 seconds left before the half you simply can't come out of that situation with ZERO points.
After all the problems with confidence the first 2 weeks, you need to come out of that with the 3 points at least.
To drop back and give up the sack/fumble on another pass at the goal line, that's a game-killer.
Gruden still doesn't get it - the Redskins offensive can be effective through the air, but not exclusively.
Cousins is a starting caliber qb but not an elite one.
We need a running game, we need to add the slants and crosses into our offense off the short drop to make more bang-bang plays.
Cousins throwing the ball 40-50 times a game isn't going to work, it didn't work for Joe Gibbs with Joe Theismann in 1981 at 0-5.

Gotta give it up for Gruden. 27 rushes by RBs. Heavy dose of Jones to close out the game.
That's how you do it.![]()
Third and one in the 4th qtr, everyone knows we gonna run the ball including the defense, where ya gonna go with the ball? I said....run it up Trent's hole and then bam, right behind Trent for easy yardage. That's when I said......ok, NOW we're getting somewhere. I think we learned a lot today, and yes defense came through to win the game, imho.
That was terrible, but I put most of that on Cousins. He HAS to throw that ball immediately. Either his guy is open or throw it away. Holding onto the ball like that ... terrible.
Fortunately it ultimately didn't matter. But Cousins needs to keep his cool on those end-of-half plays.

Agree with that, but the whole sequence down there would have been a lot better if Gruden had called a timeout instead of allowing Kirk to run down and spike it.

This is actually our best offensive line left to right.

www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redsk...2273a2-8358-11e6-ac72-a29979381495_story.htmlThere was tight end Vernon Davis, gesturing at the sideline and demanding the coaches to stick with the running game during what turned out to be the game-winning drive. “Again!” Davis insisted, tired of the cute calls and determined to keep stomach-punching the Giants. So the coaches obliged him.
Sally Jenkins is a New Yorker who hates Dan Snyder. You can always count on her to paint the team in the worst possible light, and she has a tendency to play fast and loose with the facts.
I wouldn't worry too much about anything she has to say about the Redskins these days.
