~* Just Announced - #81 to be officially retired *~

You got this all wrong man. My son approached him seriously. It was for him, it was not for me. Darrell Green was humble and happy to sign at zero cost. I have over 30,000 Redskins cards and the entire collection goes to my son. I don't care about the fucking signatures it was about my son meeting the great Redskins at the hall of fame

Yeah, I know it was for him. I got it. I just think it would have been a really bad look at this ceremony ... Your son standing there with Art Monk, ... All the sudden this kid breaks out 400 ( or runs to you to get it ), hands it to Monk, and Art pockets the bills, and signs the card.
Just surprised its a look Monk would risk.

Your experience makes me both disappointed and sad IRT my feeling towards Art. It gives me flashbacks to what I recall many of the reported holdups prior to his election into the HOF. The voting HOF electors (press) thought he was disrespectful to them.

I too was at that HOF ceremony. I personally had a great time but did not interact with any of the former players. I recall when Michael Irvin came off the stage before the cermony and walked past those of us on the field seating area after presumably congratulating Monk and Green the boos in the stadium were really loud. I had a prime seat for it. He had a huge smile on his face and took it all in stride with grace IMO. I am NOT a fan of his or Pukes BTW. That said I thought it was very gracefull and humble on his part.

I did get to hang out with Chief Z during a big tailgate party the next day prior to the HOF game. Colt Brennan became somwhat of a cult hero for the plays he made at the end of that game. It did not work out for him long term but was a fun game to go to.

For those that did not go or watch the ceremony or game, the stadium was sold out both days. ~90% of the fans were Redskins fans.

Perhaps the greatest Redskin ever. Very happy to learn this.

My one interaction with him was at a (free) autograph signing at (I think) Springfield Mall. He was a complete gentleman with everyone. And I am proud to say I made him laugh. There were two women ahead of me in line who began to talk his ear off about coming in the wrong entrance, blah, blah, blah. He was listening to them politely and I cracked some joke about what they were saying. Can't recall what, but he pointed at me while nodding his head and chuckled. Signed two cards which I still have.

Did I ever mention he was my hero?
