The media is something else. Rivera addressed them yesterday, stated that the situation has been addressed, and said the team was moving on and that he would now only take football questions.

John Keim immediately posed a question about the situation and Rivera said he was not going to talk more about it and to ask a football question. Keim did. JP Finley next asked about the controversy, Rivera repeated that he was not going to talk more about it and to ask a football question. Finley then posed another question about the controversy. Maybe he was acting under threat by Brian Mitchell. Some people just like to watch the world burn.

It’s gone unmentioned that Del Rio tried twice not to answer questions about his tweets at all at the original press conference. His mistake was giving into the media guys badgering.

ill reserve my opinion of him until after the season . He’s had one bad year in Washington and I’m willing to give him another year to bounce back . He has coached some really successful defenses over the years as pointed out by Boone a couple weeks ago and that can’t be ignored

We havent heard anything from the team other than Rivera. If it was a distraction? Sure, fine him, that's pallatable.

What's not pallatable is that Rivera's initial response never mentioned distraction.. he outright said Del Rio was "wrong" in his opinions.

"I want to make it clear that our organization will not tolerate any equivalency between those who demanded..."

The word Distraction is not referenced once in this statement that was accompanied by the fine..

According to the Defensive captain, it wasn't even close to a distraction.
It barely even got his attention.
That Captain said something along the lines of "I don't care what his opinion is. As long as he shows up for work every day, and does his job, I support him."
And his statement sounded emphatic and honest. And far more than just merely an attempt to evade or diffuse the issue.
And worth repeating, that he's the D-Captain and one of the most respected players on the team, magnifying the strength of his statement.
