How the hell is Haslett still here?

What separates fans and media from coaches and insiders is not the ability to see mismatched personnel or poor scheme fits but rather how to fix them.

Bottom line nothing here worked in 2013.

The Redskins lost 38-20, 45-13, 45-21, 27-6 to playoff teams outside the division and both times to the East champion Eagles.

We somehow managed to pull out an OT win over SD after the SD coaches had one of the season's biggest brain farts with a first down on the goal line.

I don't need Tony Dungy or Jimmy Johnson to diagram that out for me.

What I need to see is the GM/front office that can find the right #2 receiver and the proper replacements on the OL and secondary.
 
I actually have a lot of hope.....even with stupid Haslett here. Frankly, it's not the same league it was 30 years ago......each and every year any team can turn it around, get on a run and make a statement. Next year, why not the Redskins?

We start each season with a clean slate. 2014/2015 is no different. I'm anxious to see which version of our beloved team will show up this time.
 
Apparently, if we've learned anything from Seadderall, the key to having a dominant defense is instructing your DBs to commit pass-interference on every play. Yeah, you'll get called a lot, but you won't get called a lot also.

It does seem to be the thing to do. Wonder if we could instruct our Olineman to hold on every play. We really need that advantage.

Yeah, that's been a part of my life for 2 decades...well, other teams can turn it around quickly. I appreciate your optimism and I don't think I am being pessimistic...just realistic.
 
The other thing you learn from Seattle is to target good size corners that can go up and fight for balls.

Amerson is the only guy we have that has the size and speed to match up.

And he is still green.
 
let's be clear here:

1) I'm excited about the Gruden hire. I think he is a "player". We will be a better team next season.

2) I think Allen led a disciplined search process.

3) I do not like the Haz keep. It taints the Gruden hire in many expects.

4) I think Gruden needs to lay low, do his thing, ACHIEVE real results, and then do his media thing.

5) We all know where the roster needs fixing.

6) We all know where Robert needs to grow as a professional QB in the NFL.

7) No real options at this point other than to sit back and see how it all unfolds. I'd just assume that it all be done quietly. Merited or not, would give me a greater sense of adult control from the top rather than what we have seen thus far.

I think it's a little early in his career, to be comparing Amerson to a HOFer, like Darrell Green. ;)

Not outstanding? They won a Superbowl... I'd say that qualifies as outstanding. Not one redskin fan would complain about another Lombardi...

“There was a lot of stuff going on the last couple of months, probably more than I’ve ever experienced,” Haslett said Wednesday at the Senior Bowl, making his first public comments since Mike Shanahan was fired Dec. 30. “And I hope I never have to experience it again because I think it takes away [from preparation]. I felt bad for the players; they had to deal with it every day.”

That's not how the NFL works Al. The media is a constant presence at Redskins Park (and outside of it). You can't 'lay low' as the head coach of the Washington Redskins - it's just not possible. Every organized practice, event, game, the head coach is expected to address the media, take questions, and to some extent answer them. It's not 'his media thing' - it's the NFL's - and it's not *optional*.

Boone...you know different coaches have different approaches. Gruden arrived with the reputation of being a talker - and expressing exactly what was on his mind. refreshing in some respects. just not now! that's my position on the matter. do something first. establish yourself as a coach. be seen scouting, planning, whatever. it's my firmest hope that the mindset at Ashburn hasn't shifted 180 from Shanahan's micro-management to total delegation or outright independence (i.e., no accountability).
 
Hall of Fame?

All I was saying is Amerson is the only corner with enough size to defend bigger receivers in the NFC East as Dallas and NY have.

We need to move in from the 5'9 shrimps like Wilson.
 
Oakland cheerleaders seem to need a shoulder to cry on. Poor things were exploited and then weren't paid their $75 a game until the end of the season.
 
While I'm REALLY hoping this all works out, I have to admit to being a little envious of the Titans. First, they snag Whisenhunt and then he promptly brings in Ray Horton. That's the route I'd hoped we'd take. Not thrilled about keeping Hazmat but since we're stuck with him, I guess we have no choice but to give him the benefit of the doubt. I guess my biggest question where he's concerned is, is it fair to expect to see a defensive turnaround right away since many are saying he was under Shanahan's thumb?
