If anybody has some good crossfit style workouts that don't involve weights I'd appreciate it. Pm would be good or on here, doesn't matter. Stuff like air squats, push-ups, lunges ect in quick fashion
Hey Win,

Here are a bunch of CrossFit exercises that don't involve weights.

- Burpees w/push-ups (core/chest)
- Box jumps (plyo)
- Jumping squats (quads, glutes, anaerobic)
- Jumping lunges (quads, glutes, anaerobic)
- Walking lunges (quads, glutes)
- Dips (triceps)
- Handstand push-ups (you can start out with holding handstands for 15 sec. then progressing to negatives - where you slowly lower yourself down)
- Don't know if you have access to a pull-up bar, but pull-ups, knee-to-elbows, kipping pull-ups, jumping pull-ups

Some exercises that aren't necessarily CrossFit, but are great for working into a high-intensity interval routine:

- Planks
- Side-planks
- V-ups
- Heisman poses
- jump rope
- Ski jumps
- Mountain climbers

When I can't hit CrossFit and make up my own routines, I typically do timed workouts: 1-min per exercise, as many reps as I can then move on to the next exercise.

Typical outline of interval workout is:

2 strength moves
1 high intensity anaerobic exercise (mountain climbers, box jumps, etc.)
2 strength moves
1 high intensity anaerobic exercise
1-2 strength moves
1 high intensity anaerobic exercise

I usually do the circuit twice.

If you want more weight-bearing/functional exercises, you can google that term or look up the CrossFit site. Just remember, the entire purpose behind CrossFit is compound, functional strength training exercises intermixed with anaerobic exercises creating a very high intensity 20-30 min. workout.

Hope this helps a little bit at least. :)

Um, hi, that's a tough routine, I don't know why you don't think your training doesn't "measure up" (whatever that means, everyone is at different places in their physical fitness and health and as long as you're doing anything physical most days of the week, you're a winner :D ). I did pool "running" in high school track when I was recovering from a stress fracture and holy craaap, that kicked my butt more than going out and jogging for an hour! Keep up the good work, I'm seriously impressed with that routine.

Not to say that it is an easy set of routines, but I'm not going to compare it with the workouts that some are doing and talking about in this thread. "Running" in the pool each day is no where near the same as running on land, but it is a good way to work out.

My routines are considered physical therapy and not physical training. Don't get me wrong, it is of the utmost importance for me to engage in these activities each day. However, these routines are heavily monitored by staff and are altered accordingly when needed.

Thanks a lot SK, mucho appreciated. In my haste of packing for a deployment I forgot to download or copy any good cf workouts. Not the best Internet access here either. Any/all workouts (especially duration, times, reps) is very appreciated. Thanks again

Working on more refinement to my diet, seem to have plateaued again in the low 170's and I really want to be under 165 if possible by August.

The good part is that some of the weight is definitely strength. I have increased all of my push-up reps and crunch reps significantly over the past 2 weeks and have been actively full contact sparring (with pads, not as tough as it may sound!) 2 days a week now too.

My Sifu is forcing me to train only with Black Sash level or higher in the ring and it is definitley helping my technique.

Only issue is how humbling it is to have my ass kicked 2 days a week in front of my wife and kids! LOL, someday, someday...

Last week was the first time since Feb I haven't lost any weight. I was traveling more, and last weekend involved some cookouts at church and so on where it is incredibly difficult to keep to a diet.

This week will be MUCH better. I just wrapped up 50 minutes on the elliptical, feeling good.

You don't get better sparring people worse than you. :)

On Tuesday I had sparring class and spent most of the class paired up with an 18 year-old second degree black belt. We know each other pretty well. He's a lot faster than me and never runs out of gas. I can usually hold him off for about two two-minute rounds and then I'm just a kick bag for him.

My strategy is to pound on him early so that he's afraid to press later. Sometimes it works. Tuesday it did.

After class we compared notes and I told him 'you're just too fast' and he shot back 'yeah, but you're too strong.'

I think that's the first time in my life I've ever, ever, been called too strong. Didn't suck. :)

The downside is when I woke up on Wednesday my back was real sore. I think I overdid it. I've been hobbling around the rest of the week and I think I'm not good for more than a walk today.

I can sooo relate! (especially as a 41 yr old fighting mostly 20-25 yr olds)

I'm limping today as well, did some tweaks on my bad knee last night.

I hate getting old!

42 on the bike this morning...I'm as light as I've been in several years, but still need to carve off some more. Good ride.

Was able to weight train 4 days this last week, finally. I plan to do 4 days of weight, interval resistance training or crossfit 4 days a week. I've always noticed the most change in my body when I up my weight training, and I've seriously slacked these last few years. I've been keeping up on cardio, but I really want to gain strength and increase my muscle mass this summer (not bulk up like a fitness girl or anything, but it would be nice to change my lean muscle mass to fat ratio).

Going for a mountain bike ride today and working on my core strength with the Biggest Loser Ab blaster video. If anything is gonna make me work hard, it's the sight of Dolvett Quince, hahaha!

Now that I am down over 50...officially 52 pounds...it is time to strengthen. Probably should have been doing it all along, but still hesitant with my back. Which means, I probably shouldn't have been doing flips of the diving board at the pool showing off for all the middle aged moms..er...umm...I mean kids at the pool.

So my wife is up for her 1st degree black belt in August, and she just had a meeting with the head instructors to go over what will be expected in order to qualify to take the test. Of course I'm paying attention because it will similar for me in November.

100 pushups in 2 minutes.
100 leg lifts in 2 minutes
100 crunches in 2 minutes.
100 double round-kicks in 2 minutes.

And that's before the 2 hour test actually begins.

I think the last time I attempted these feats a few weeks ago I managed 85 pushups and 60 leg lifts. The crunches and kicks I think I can manage.

Of course this was before my back gave out, so I'm in full rest & recovery mode and then I'm seriously down-shifting on the running and gearing up on my anaerobic/TKD workouts. I just hope my shoulder holds up.

Awesome accomplishment!!! :chestram2:

Thats a brute!!

I think I could hold my own with the crunches and leg lifts, the Push-ups would be close, but the double rounds....nuh uh, no way combined with all the rest.

On a side note, How awesome is it that your wife is also so advanced in the same art!!??

My wife started training with me, but she is mainly into the inner Tai Chi / Qi Gong stuff at the moment with dabbles in Kung Fu. I love just that we go there together and share the warmups! You must be on cloud 9 with your scenario!

Yeah, awesome job Brian! If I ever hit 50, I'm posting a video of me running naked down the street! LOL

Only I could get a shiner while wearing headgear! LOL, that shot made me see stars, but he paid for it and I won the bout.

Got bored with P90x - doing my own routine every other night - 6 sets of:

Push-ups
Flutter kicks/hello Dolly's
Military press/curls w/barbells

Need to create some other routines :)

Actually, she gets credit for me doing this again. She was the one who signed my daughter up and then asked me to go meet with the owner of the school to discuss the curriculum (because I supposedly knew what I was talking about.) So when I sit down the head instructor says "So I hear you are a black belt and want to take it up again" and I'm like "Er ... okay." :)

After awhile I talked her into doing it too, since we had to take the kids to class anyway she could get some exercise too. And she's been diligently plugging away at it for three years now. And when she passes the test, we'll have three black belts in the family. So yeah, I think that's pretty cool.

That's very cool. Frankly, my wife would probably prefer Tai Chi. TKD is a tough style to start late in life. But it is fun to compare notes with her. We are currently cleaning out our garage to turn it into the family dojo. I can't wait until we have the space to do some real sparring. I know my wife would love the chance to beat on me. :D

That's awesome! Your family is what ours is aspiring for in terms of Martial Arts!! We have half the Garage for a training area too, but its normally just me that works a lot outside of class. I had the ladies getting into both sparring and Chi Sau for last night, both first timers for Chi Sau. My daughter seems to be a natural and that makes me pleased because now I'll have someone to work with at home.

Flutter kicks/hello Dolly's

Just googled these because I had zero idea what they were - holy balls. I think I could do maybe one rep of each before my stomach tore itself open. LOL. Well done, John!

Side note: I am out of shape as HELL.

God damn SI is acting up again - seems like every time I'm about to get motivated to get back into shape and get back to training, something happens. Very frustrating!
