Haynesworth Fails Conditioning Test

There are times to make an example of someone however, to remind your minions who is in charge. Having said that, you do that carefully, thoughtfully, occasionally to make a point.

And then once you make it, you move on.

I think Shanny made his point yesterday. Today seems a little... trifling.

I agree. Let's get back to football.

Believe what you want chief but spare me the condescending attitude. I've heard the same type stories you are referring to. I'm saying it didn't happen with any of the programs I was associated with. Are you disputing that? If you're going to call someone a liar quit ***** footing around and do it. Otherwise move on.

So I guess your point is it's good for the team to have separate rules for different players based on how well they play or how much they get paid? I disagree.

If instead you're saying that that stuff happens I think you are arguing with yourself because I never said it didn't happen. We all know it does. I just think that in most cases it's destructive and doesn't help build a team mentality.

dude...not as condescending as you think. just a way of framing a response. don't get your own ego wrapped up in this. I was responding to a set of ideas - not you as a person or your personal history. I respect the high minded approach you are taking...I just see some of the warts. I agree on the destructive part. what I was working to set up was the idea that once one accepts there's never a perfect application of the vision, then cost/bene considerations weigh in. Shanahan, IMO, is now in territory where he needs to weigh these. No one, least of all myself, favors how Haynesworth has played his cards. that said, he's in camp and the moneys involved almost guarantee he will be here at least this year. Shanahan should make his point but get value out of this player for the team - not just his authority.

I would also point out that HS/College are not really good analogues for the NFL. The NFL is a business that happens to be a sport. While some cynics claim the same for NCAA football, the focus at that level is much more on the purer notions of team, team loyalty, team imperatives, etc.

Ray Wright explains the "the test" at his presser.(see Redskins.com.)

He claims that it is part of the normal routine workout program that all participated in during OTA's.

Fair warning was given that those with less than 50% OTA attendance would be given a fitness "test" before being allowed to practice during TC Rocky and Carter were close but made it over the minimum.

The only player who was less than 50% was AH.

Yesterday's potty break was longer than the allowed "breather" between sets and nulled out the current test, AH was given the option to rest and have his do-over the following day, but he elected to go at it again.

The times needed to pass are prorated by position, linemen being the most "liberal".

soooo...exactly how much is ALbert being paid to run two gassers each day?

bahahahahahahahahahaha

I for one don't have a problem with it. Is AH being targeted? lol yeah. Is it Fair? Who knows ? Will it hurt team morale? I don't think so....most likely it will improve the situation.
I don't feel it will greatly hurt or help our season...but If I were in Shanny's shoes I can see where he thought this out for awhile. I believe the media is going to make way more out of it than needs to be...That's thier job.

I think that Shanahan is doing the right thing.

I don't give a rats-ass about the "feelings" of a multi-millionare who basically gave a big FU to Shanahan, his teammates and the fans.

The extra conditioning can only help, as I was sick and tired of seeing him gassed all of the time on the sidelines.

Had he shown up at the OTA's, none of this would've happened. He made his bed, let him lie in it....

Sarge - erase the '&' on those You Tube links (and everything after them) and they'll work fine.
