I thought Sinners was great but the opening act seemed long, it also took me back to From Dusk Till Dawn where the twist caught me completely off guard although in 96 I dont think I ever saw the trailer for it just knew it involved Tarantino.

The climax of the film is iconic, but I have always questioned the complete loss of self control Colonel Jessup has at the end of the film. Yes he had an out of control ego… but he was no fool.

Saw Project Hail Mary with my son and his friend the other day. We had almost no expectations of it and I gotta say It is Amazing and worth the watch. Surprisingly Great. We loved it.
The kids gave it a 10/10

I concur with Project: Hail Mary. Great movie.
If you enjoyed The Martian (also based off an Andy Weir novel) then you'll love this. It's the same mixture of hard sci-fi, heart and humour.
Ryan Gosling is great in it, practically carrying the movie as a one man show.
My wife was bawling in the theatre at one point and turned to me and said "I can't bellieve I'm crying over a rock!" - if you know, you know.
It's a film that has (I think) relatively easily jumped into my top 10, but then I'm a sucker for SciFi and this pressed all my buttons.
Loved it.

We saw it yesterday with the preface that we are not Sci Fi fans. We both came away thinking this was a movie for younger people and we've already seen ET. It was just too long for me. But again not our type of movie so expectations were not that high.

This one is back from 2023, but if you haven't seen 'LaRoy, Texas' - it's pretty entertaining. Steve Zahn, John Magaro, and Dylan Baker. About a hired hit gone wrong. Kind of reminded me a bit of Fargo, A Simple Plan, that kind of vibe with lots of dark humor.

It's absolutely one of my top 5 movies of all time.

The fact that a young Tom Cruise could hold up against peak Jack was amazing. And great low-key performances by Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland.

I don’t watch movies for realism, I watch to be entertained. I’m pretty sure that Hunt for Red October isn’t realistic either. But both AFGM and HRO are all-timers in my book from an entertainment perspective and I have watched both numerous times.

Send Help , both the Mrs and I enjoyed it. Its somewhat suspense, somewhat horror, some humor. It paced well and wasn't more than it was supposed to.

Pizza Movie: Drug comedy, not going to be for everybody but for stupid fun. It's a watch. Mrs. SO wasn't initially interested but was belly laughing after it got going.

Oh my goodness. Just watched Project Hail Mary.

Now that is exceptionally well made movie. Humor, emotions, special effects, acting, casting.

Just great.

I have no notes.

They did SUCH a good job with Rocky. I don't think this is a spoiler because it's in the trailer. But they had to nail the alien Rocky. And they did. In a huge way.

I was listening to a couple of movie podcasts, and one of the reasons why they were able to nail Rocky is he's a puppet. Not CGI. And they had 5 puppeteers controlling him.

There are only 2 other times I've had the kind of reaction to an Alien that was an actual character in a movie the same way that I had with Rocky: E.T. and Yoda. Both puppets.

This movie vaulted to one of my absolute favorite space movies (and there are a lot of space movies) with E.T., Star Wars (A New Hope and Empire), 2001, Apollo 13, The Right Stuff and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I know, that's a lot of favorite space movies. But those are all CLASSICS. And I think this one has the legs to live in that stratosphere.

I guess, question for the audience, what other favorite space movies do you all have? I don't care for the Alien movies as much. They are entertaining, but not really my thing.

A movie I didn't find mentioned is Green Book. What really does it for me, beyond why it won so many awards, it's old home. That's my old neighborhood, and they captured the early 60"s Bronx very well. Mortensen did an amazing job, and could easily pass for a family member. It's like watching and listening to my youth, with expressions and (good & bad) behavior I saw first hand from uncles, cousins, and my dad... Well written, good soundtrack, enough humor to keep it enjoyable, while dealing with the reality of the times and topic.

It seems he had been hanging out in some of the bars frequented by navy shipmen down there prior to the books publication, and he got some of them in trouble when his book had information on Soviet subs not meant to be common knowledge...especially to Americans who shouldn't have that kind of knowledge about a foreign adversary 's nuclear subs. So the Hunt for Red October likely had more realism than we realize.

The Movie was not a very faithful adaptation of the book.

It was the only Clancy movie I saw before I read the book.

I like the book.

I LOVE the movie.

I like the other Clancy novels much more than the books. None of the movies from the 90’s were close adaptations.

I really wish somebody had done a movie/TV adaptation of Red Storm Rising. Which was a WWIII biopic. I read that book probably 10 times when I was in HS. It probably couldn’t have been a movie, just too much.

In fact, they could have made Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger into 5-6 episode mini series.

We watched Crime 101 (Netflix) last night. Though I wouldn’t categorize it as great, it was an entertaining ride. Chris Helmsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, Nick Nolte.

I enjoyed Crime 101 too. I wouldn't put it on a must watch list, but I still enjoyed it.
