Great Movies That Others Might Enjoy, Or Ones To Avoid

I went and saw American Hustle also due to this thread, and I gotta say...meh. Its was a two hour movie that felt like four hours and at the end, I felt like the plot was very thin. It felt like nothing really happened!

The cast was great (Bale in particular), but they focused too much on characters and too little on plot.

Just my opinion though.

I kept waiting for the twist, the long con, but it never happened. The end was predictable I thought, and very anti-climactic.

You guys seen the previews to Joaquin Phoenix's movie 'Her'?

Looks pretty weird, like a dude dating Siri or something.

I always find it amazing how opinions vary. I thought Lawrence was pretty hot and she did a very good job, I was simply blown away with Adams' performance. And I also believe the whole cast was wonderful, but I felt that Adams performance would have stolen the movie had it not been for Bale. He was never one of my favorites, but damn did he do a great job in this movie.

Regardless, I thought this movie as a whole was very well crafted and I am a movie snob. This was the first time I had been in a theatre in as long as I can remember because I was tired of paying 20 bucks for **** movies.

Lawrence had a very minor role in the movie.

I don't disagree about Adam's performance, I'm just currently in love with Jennifer Lawrence.

Except I hate her new hair cut.

that movie is long overdue and i eagerly look forward to its release.

i have a friend that's a larper and it's hard to keep a straight face when he starts talking about it.

We really enjoyed Admission as well. Great story, good acting. Paul Rudd gets overlooked because most of his characters are in comedies, but he's a damn good actor.

Yeah, I read Admission before I watched it, pretty good both ways. I think they had some bad timing on that one. IIRC, Fey was coming off her Golden Globes hosting bit and was really hot as a comedienne; then to pair her with Paul Rudd I think made a lot of people assume it was a comedy. And there were some funny parts to be sure, but it definitely wasn't a comedy.

Yes. They transcribe all the dialogue and describe the settings as well as possible. Very entertaining.

Hobbit 2 - meh...if they didnt add so much of Smaug to it, it would have been just another boring tale of walking short people.
.

Or as I refer to them "people mcnuggets".

Your the 2nd one I've heard say that about the movie too so I believe I'll wait.

Just rented Man of Steel and thought it was great! I held off because of some of the mixed reviews on metacritic and the last one totally sucked.

Without giving any spoilers away they basically remade the original Superman 1 & 2 into 1 movie. Great sci-fi action with top notch special effects. They made it more serious/realistic and Clark Kent isn't a complete nerd.

We really liked The Secret Life of Walter Mitty! It was a bit predictable, but it didn't even matter because of the awesome cinematography and spectacular views. Great, very entertaining film!

So agree...i told my friend about it and apparently its a remake. I wanna find it but the new one is just so good.

And the cinematography is off the charts.

I found the New York Times story by James Thurber that it's based off of online.

The soundtrack was awesome too. When a movie has the perfect songs for every segment, it goes a long way for me.

Just watched "Captain Phillips." It was so predictable.

By the way, in case any of you didn't know, America's Navy SEALs are Grade A badasses. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I still am unable to bring myself to watch a movie with the insufferable Ben Stiller. He may be the most annoying actor in the world. Now, most annoying person? Well, Goa...umm...never mind.

I have sat here for 3 minutes staring at the screen trying to come up with a comeback. I got nuthin' this morning.

Good job, Mr Poopy-pants.

How dare you call me Mr. Poopy Pants! How rude!
