I think it’s arguable that Haskins has ever had a ‘great’ game. The bar has been set so low given his performances that anything approaching typical NFL QB production (300+ yds, 2 TDs, and possibly an INT in there) looks amazing to us.

He’s just erratic and his decision-making is often questionable. He lost his job and the first opportunity he has to get out there again he resorts to those ridiculous sidearm passes or trying to shovel pass it to God knows who to avoid a sack.We saw Smith throw it away 3-4 times to avoid a negative play, but Haskins? He seems unable to figure out that sometimes throwing it away IS the best play.

To me, Dwayne is a pretty easy read at this point. He has a great NFL arm, and passable mobility. What he doesn't have--or at least hasn't shown yet--is NFL-caliber read, adjust and deliver.

I see so many young QB's come into the league that show the same barrier: If their first read is there, they can make throws that make your heart sing. If it isn't, they struggle to move through any kind of progression and keep their mechanics intact enough to consistently deliver. When Dwayne can throw on time to his first option, he looks All World. When that isn't there ... he looks like just another in the endless line of journeymen.

The one thing I've been holding onto this year is what's happened with Josh Wilson up in Buffalo. The jump he made between years 2 and 3 was phenomenal, and all those Bills fans out there who gave up on him last year (and you know there are many) are acting like they knew he was gold all the time.

He's probably an exception, but still ... while I won't bet my own money on it, that could still happen for Dwayne.

Maybe on the first part. I just can't tell if he's seeing it and not being able to physically adjust, or if he's just not seeing it and so getting happy-feet. If you're right, that works in his favor and raises his chances of being ... more Josh ALLEN than say, Jason Campbell.

Do you have a subscription to TheAthletic? Bullock gives Haskins props as you can see him identifying man coverage, quickly confirming post snap, then hitting the correct player.... but that's his first read. There is another play to Cam Sims where Haskins identifies Zone, hesitates to confirm the underneath LB is crashing down on the Rb in the flat, and it opens a window to Logan Thomas in the intermediate for a first down.

The mechanics thing should be fixable, as Bullock suggests, with time and repetition, but the question then becomes, for how long and how much? The team can't simply wait him out ... they need signs. So far, those signs don't seem to really be there.

Would also love to see some breakdowns of plays where the first read wasn't there, and how Dwayne reacted (or didn't). That to me is the issue most likely to keep him from becoming The Guy.

There is only one road to Haskins become a bonafide starter and that is if he learns from Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, etc, and even Eli Manning on how to consistently throw strikes and work the pocket to buy time, since he has such limited running ability.

Josh "Russell" Wilson could become Josh "Steve" Young if he's really improved and it isn't just Diggs opening things up like Amari did for Dak.

I still don't think you give Haskins enough credit for his athleticism... he doesn't use it correctly, but you can see that he has it.

Even Tom Brady can look "fast" when he has a ton of turf in front of him and he even made Urlacher miss a tackle once. That doesn't mean he can extend plays like the more mobile Aaron Rodgers.

You keep saying this, but that's simply not the case. No one 'hates' him. But there are a lot of us who aren't at all sure he's an NFL QB. Big difference.
