ESPN: Shanahan was ready to quit in '12

Redskins? Mike Shanahan-Daniel Snyder relationship might be damaged beyond repair - The Washington Post

"One person close to the situation called members of the Redskins organization furious and bewildered at Shanahan over the ESPN report and suspicious that the information originated with Shanahan.

A person with knowledge of the relationship between Snyder and Shanahan said there was no sign of friction between Shanahan and Snyder at the end of last season. According to that person, Snyder has attempted to meet all of the requests made by Shanahan during his coaching tenure by moving the Redskins’ training camp to Richmond, building an indoor practice facility at Redskins Park and upgrading the team’s travel accommodations during road trips.

That person also said Griffin’s wife Rebecca expressed disappointment to the team about being mentioned in the ESPN report, which said that she was spotted being picked up by Snyder’s driver at road games. She told a team official that she rides taxicabs to games, that person said."

"I'm frustrated. A lot of things are being allowed to happen that we could cut out. But it's not being cut out. That's all I can say."

Translation: Shanahan sucks.

So, you're saying Shanahan's to blame, not Snyder ?

I think both are incompetent.

That statement is only my interpretation, and the analysts on TV too, of what RG3 just said.

I believe he's sick of the ST, the defense.....etc. And he wants a new HC.

I don't know what to think. Each week, I have a pretty good idea of what to write in BBQ. This week, I have no idea...pffffft. Never seen anything like this crap.

Well the story appears to be true. Shanahan could've of easily said the story was ridiculous, but didn't. It really wouldn't surprise me if Shanahan had a part in leaking this. Dan fires him and he gets another 7 million for nothing.

On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if Dan was behind this. It makes great drama which is good for him(media ratings) plus it gives him leverage to have his way once again, fire Shanahan, without being deemed the bad guy.

Since this is going to end badly, why not call Shanahan's bluff? Fire Kyle tonight and let's see what the HC will do.

Not trying to be pedantic here, but his PC was that brief? Almost no answers and then left?

What was he supposed to say? The entire media and most of the fanbase has turned on him in favor of supporting the new RG3 and Snyder regime.

People can put horns on Snyder but he didn't construct these special teams.

Keith Burns is the most ineffective coach in the league.

Why is he still here?

The quote actually confuses me. Because if most of this drama indeed stems from Snyder coddling RG3, then that quote would sound like something that would come out of Shanahan's mouth, not RG3's.

If it was leaked by Shanahan, then he can be fired with cause.

Snyder's best way of dismissing Shanahan is to wait until the Redskins get clobbered by Dallas and the fan base is hunting for a sacrifice.

No one will blame him then.

This time though Shanahan has had 4 years.

Munchak is out in TN after how long?

How many years did Whisenhunt have in AZ after he took them to the Super Bowl?

Are we supposed to give Mike the SEVEN years that Norv had?

If it was leaked by Shanahan, then he can be fired with cause.

I'm not sure about that. What exactly would be the cause? Thinking about quitting?

Either way that was a strange press conference and I'm just totally speculating. I can see Shanahan wanting to talk to Snyder first about the story(assuming it was false) before answering to the media, but he said "he would talk to Dan at the end of the year".

Yeah, this organization is far better off with Shanahan instead of Vinny Cerrato!

Snyder needs to go out and hire a GM and let him build the team! I am not sure what Bruce Allen has to do with the current fiasco, but I would just assume see Snyder take the time to go out and hire a GM and let that man build the team as he sees fit.

Just not sure I trust Snyder to pick the right guy.

It is so tiresome watching this team!

IMHO only, 30% chance he's fired tonight with Raheem taking over.

70% chance they wait until the season is over.

Snyder can try to fire him with cause for "undermining" the team.

Basically, just a ploy to try and negotiate next year's $7 million down to $1 million.
