Dwayne Haskins caught maskless in strip club

latest report is that he will not be released but could be facing a suspension.

I personally think Rivera and the front office are hoping the league steps in and suspends him. Rivera is in an impossible situation. If you keep Haskins, you threated the culture change you've been working on. On the other hand, if you cut him now, but think he gives you the best chance to win, you're potentially sacrificing the season for every other player / coach / person involved.

I personally would have no problem cutting him, but the bottom half of the roster could seriously benefit from a playoff game check....

Well.. let’s be honest, who thinks Haskins gives this team the best chance to win a single thing?

that depends on Alex.

I think he gives us a better chance than Montez and Heinicke at the moment.... and even if Alex is 'good to go,' are you confident enough in his ability to get through the game with only those two as backups?

Rivera is definitely between a rock and a hard place.

For me, as hard as it is, ‘if you’ll stand for anything you stand for nothing’ comes to mind.

yeah and that's where the internal debate is..

Team is bigger than everything, but do you consider the team move to cut him, or do you feel like cutting him and losing Sunday is a punishment to the remainder of the team due to 1 idiots indiscretion?

Firstly, I’m glad it’s not my decision to make.

Secondly, sometimes subtraction is addition but that depends entirely on were Smith really is.

Thirdly, shit, I don’t know. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There‘s no film on Heinicke with this team, so that’s worth something. I do feel that tandem gives a better chance of winning than Haskins, who is utter trash and likely can’t be permitted around the team right now, anyway.

I know what Gibbs would have done ... he'd have called in his team captains and locker-room leaders and asked their feelings on it.

"So, Art, Monte, Dave ... the kid is a doofus and knucklehead, and given what we're trying to build here my instinct is to send his butt home and be done with him already. But, we need to win Sunday and probably in Philly if we want to win the division, and Alex is at best 50-50 to start/finish either game. The two other kid QB's barely know you-all's names and haven't even taken preseason snaps, much less played in games that matter. So ... do we send him and everyone else a clear message about TEAM, or does the TEAM want this division title as much as I know I do? I'm torn, but good either way. Talk to me."

I’m not sure about that. He brings nothing special to the equation. He has flashes or even a brief stretch now and then where that incredible arm of his makes you think ‘Wow - he’s really got something!’ But in general I don’t know that he brings anything special to the table that you want to see in a starter.

I was thinking about this on the way in to work actually.

If it was me, I would have a meeting with Alex, Terry, Brandon, Jon Allen, Chase, Deshazor, and talk it out with them. I included Chase because he 'could' be an advocate for Dwayne and if Chase votes NAY then you know where he really stands within the locker room.

Totally fair, but you haven't seen any of that from Montez or Heinicke either... You can't sign anyone off the street because they can't get through covid protocols before Sunday, so it's roll the dice with the guy who has roughly 1 season of NFL experience, or a rookie and a quasi-rookie who attempted 57 passes in 2018 and hasn't taken a snap since...

I don't disagree with your assessment of his 'nothing special' play, but that is a far cry better than a guy who's thrown a grand total of 58 passes in his career, three for interceptions, or a practice squad guy that's never even played a pre-season game.

As far as what to do? I think I agree with Chris on that.

EDIT: Get out of my head, ST. :)

The other factor here to consider is that Rivera rides Haskins this week. IF we pull it out and the Giants lose, the division is ours. That buys you an additional 2 weeks to get Alex healthy, as well as continue working Montez or Heinicke with first team reps. You also would have 2 weeks to potentially sign someone off a PS and get them through Covid protocols before you would need them in the first round of the playoffs.

1 more aspect of this Boone is the point I made about Rivera secretly hoping the league steps in and suspends him. The league would take the pressure off of him by making the decision for him.

imho if he gets suspended by the league, the team will then try to recoup some of the guaranteed money from his contract.

the story of Ron sitting Cam for the first half of a game because he did not follow dress rules (tie) should let us know what he plans on doing with Dwayne.

If Ron is going to hold any sort of moral high ground and keep a good culture he HAS to sit Dwayne. Not sitting him sends the wrong message to the team.

Those were my exact thoughts yesterday. It also insulates Rivera from some of the criticism that he never wanted Haskins and isn’t willing to give him a fair chance to prove himself.

I think this cements it. Haskins will be traded for a late pick or two in the off-season.

yeah, at this point they will take whatever they can get
