Draft Day Tailgate

Someone needs to be in charge of the camera. Those of us who can't make it will expect lots of photos of our BGO brothren having a good time.

I'll put my wife on it. I got her a decent cannon DSLR a few years ago and she knows how to work it thanks to her photography class.

As long as you're ok with amateur quality it'll work :)

Let me know who to send the pic dump to when we're done.

It's the time of the year where I cannot commit, but I am trying to work things out to spend some time down there and get some shots. I mean...staff photographer and all.

:banhim:

If you stop by the Bar....you'll get some good shots...

Depends, there are some that get there at dawn and leave at sundown, I usually get there about 10am and leave 5 ish. Once you get there you'll be surprised how fast time goes.

I got the DD Driver plan worked out this year. Going to pick up Larry(my whisky cohort) then we are going to the stadium. Then wives are going shopping. The they later will arrive at the stadium and we can spend the whole day, drink what we want, and have rides. Plus the women get to shop and only be at the tailgate as long as they want. It's a WIN WIN!

a man who thinks ahead!

For something like this, amateur is fine. In fact, few pros I know would really "work" at it for something like this. It is more archival stuff which is about capturing the snapshots that we all use to jog our memories when we get old and infirm.

Now pez if you think I am going to be at FedEx at 5:45AM you are smoking crack again! :) Love ya mean it

I just need to know how you want the feed. Skype, Google chat, face time, some vbulletin plugin, ?

Once that's figured out we can work on the rest.

Hey guys, I am going to be in and out here.... I am doing the best I can coordinating with a lot of people. If someone can help coordinate this thread that would be awesome.

I am working several angles, where I might be able to get some redskins players to come out, and I am working on live broadcasts cycling through different folks like Sports Journey, Son of Washington, Bang and others...

Huly and I are in full overdrive at the moment... LOL

If someone takes that on it would be cool but honestly Pez nor I have time. :)

Huh?

:wall:

Oh well.

BB, do you have tshile on ignore? Because he is offering to set up the live feed for you.

aw, I hope not but would understand :(

depending on how you want to do it, yes I may be able to set it up. I have concerns about leaving my equipment unattended by me, or carrying equipment around all day, and the battery life of things.

but yes, we can set up a computer, camera, or phone with an internet connection in the parking lot and broadcast a live video stream.

whether it can be done through the entire event, or how long it'll be up, all depends on how we're going to go about it.

I can't decide if I want to bring a computer and tether it through my phone or just use the camera on the phone.

Would be a pretty boring feed, unless you were able to attach a camera to your hat or something, lol.

yeah, i'm not really sure how to go about it yet, which is why the first step is to figure out what technology we're using to get the feed.

I know everyone uses the chat rooms for the virtual tailgate, i'm unaware of a way to integrate video into that. so there has to be a solution for that first, then we'll worry about what equipment to use, where to put it, and when.

i'm confident I can find a place where someone that can be trusted can keep look out over the equipment... probably next to the pig where the more predominant members of the tailgate will be hanging out (pez, huly, etc)

I can get internet to the parking lot and I can connect a video camera to it. That part is solved for. It's the rest of it that needs to be figured out...

I don't have anyone on ignore. If you can make this work, then great.

I don't see a way to integrate video with the forum's chat features.

I'm going to see if there is free software to host a video stream and I can just get a link for everyone to use on game day. The only issue with that is it's a one way broadcast - people on the internet wont be able to communicate with people at the tailgate. So it's kind of lame and probably not preferred.

We can also go with a video conferencing service (like Skype) that would allow everyone on the internet to actually communicate with whoever is using the webcam at the tailgate.

In either case it's going to be hard to run it all day due to battery issues unless there is a generator. I doubt there will be a generator near the action due to the noise. So we'll probably want to set up an hour window to do this and be done with it.

Yeah I was thinking of that... only problem is I doubt everyone has a google+ account, or is willing to make one for this.

I'm actually thinking google talk might be the best option. I can be installed on any android phone or desktop computer, has conferencing features and video chat.

would need to test it though. I think it's the technology they use for the google+ hangout. should allow anyone to use it without making a google+ account.
