Del Rio Fired

I don't think it matters. Not gonna get much worse than giving up 45 points.

Oh - I agree. It's kind of a pointless gesture all the way around. I'm not sure why Rivera felt the need to can JDR at this point in the process.

I saw an article today that said "Rivera has done so much for this organization" and I laughed.

Maybe that was always his intention

Well, the Dolphins did score 70 earlier this year. They have been struggling a bit. I could see them trying to hit big plays all day. They have a track team assembled and it could get really ugly.

There have only been 4 times in the history of the NFL where a team has scored 70 points. It seems highly unlikely that it would happen twice in the same season, by the same team. So 45, 50 points is something that can be acheived with or without Jack Del Rio. This season is already ugly, I don't think a super ugly 70 points is in the cards. But if it did, that would probably indicate the team has given up on Rivera, and would give rationale for firing him before the end of the season. Otherwise, I think he doen't get fired before the last game ends.

Outside of play calling what can Rivera realistically change? The DBs talk about how their scheme requires them to communicate constantly and it's complex. Is that something you can change overnight or does that require an off-season?

Ron has planned this well. He isn't going to be fired ahead of the end of ANY season because the assistant coaches he brought with him were almost all OLDER coaches with no plans to take over as a head coach in those circumstances.

Bieniemy is the only 'outsider' on this staff and while the offense looks better in 2023 to put a guy that has 12 games of experience as a coordinator in as head coach of this team with all of the other problems is really not giving him a fair shake.

Those defensive players in camp and preseason that objected to Eric's intensity and determination to keep up the pace of practice show that this club has a problem with the 'countryclub' atmosphere fostered by Ron the past 3 plus years.

You can yell at some guys but in the end result this type of atmosphere is only cleared up by getting rid of the players that have gotten used to the lax environment and lack of accountability.
