Why do we need an assistant HC? Does anyone think that Brian Johnson had any team wide responsibilities beyond being the PGC?

I think he probably did assist Quinn with managerial tasks, but who knows.
But you definitely don’t “need” one. Most teams don’t as far as I know. Especially when you’ve got a CEO HC who isn’t hands on with either side of the ball, and who has an empowered executive assistant like he does (don’t remember her name, but fluff pieces were written about her role as a calendar manager and general fixer for him, when he was hired and brought her along). So…Quinn may be the last coach in the NFL that “needs” managerial help, in terms of his daily availability.
Now, he may take more of a hands on coaching role with this younger staff. So that opinion may end up out of date.
But Brian Johnson’s passing game coordinator role was no doubt more impactful than his AHC role.

I think it’s more likely that Quinn wanted him and that BJ made the title a condition. 🤷🏻♂️
For sure. It’s a real role on some teams but it’s also usually a vanity bump title to justify cutting a check for a guy at a higher pay grade than some of his peers

Listening to Logan on one of his appearances, maybe Take Command said he was in the building last week and got a chance to visit with the offensive coaches.
Early on Logan had a wait and see approach but after the visit felt the innovation, energy and enthusiasm in what they're building.
He said something like sometimes you have to get the old guys out of the way and let the new guys develop their schemes.

Unlike Kliff who hired Raih and entrusted the development of a rookie TE to him, I like this move by Blough, who's bringing in someone with actual experience coaching TEs. It ain't Embree, but it's still what we need.

I like Logan and I’m not saying he’s fibbing, but the guy paid by the team feeling better about the team after his special VIP sit down with the coaches of the team…is not exactly surprising.

Yeah but Logan was also a guy early on, after the Blough announcement that couldn't wrap his head around a never before play caller and how he was going to develop a scheme/playbook. He went in to great detail about how hard that was going to be so he did have a lot of concerns.
He sure did. I found his discussion very interesting how he detailed what Blough would be up against, or should I say, what he would need to do
For sure, which is why his tune changing once he gets some inner circle time isn’t that surprising. If they in the building believe it’s going to work (and they have to) I’m not surprised they can convince him of that once they’re talking ball.
Access changing someone’s mind isn’t always for nefarious reasons. Sometimes it’s because once you’re in the bubble and see how confident they are in that bubble, it’s persuasive. They’re all smart football guys on the whole, even if they turn out to be failures they’re still at the top of their craft.

The most obvious connection is that he was with quinn in Atlanta for 2 years.

How much time will it take for Blough to win over the players? I know they are professionals and so they will play for him and listen, but from the corner of their eyes some of the vets may still see a wet behind the ears assistant QBs coach. It probably does help that they know him and supposedly like him, but is that different from buying in?
