I think Darrell Bevel would have been a great replacement for Johnson, but he signed on with Carolina. I am not sure who is available to fill in now. They absolutely need to replace someone with some experience.

Off the top of my head, one of the better fits out there for a PGC is Greg Olson. Veteran OC and QB coach from the Gruden tree with experience working with McVay

I'm assuming that's not the former Panthers TE?

As an aside, Grant Paulsen today on G&D said he heard Anthony Lynn and Bobby Johnson knocked heads on the run game coordination. Hence Bobby Johnson gone. I wonder if this signals support for Anthony Lynn to have an expanded role.

Then why take his run game coordinator title? That's the one I am trying to figure out

The lack of experience outside Lynn is concerning now. I am not sure what options we had with Johnson dipping out so late in the cycle, but I would have definitely preferred someone with more experience.

It's a legit concern, but it comes back to the idea that our options are probably limited to a degree given the current circumstances. I think we aren't a premium destination right now because of the question marks regarding Quinn's future. Even as someone who is not as negative as a lot of other regarding Quinn and Peters. No matter where someone stands on it personally, i think there's absolutely a level of unknown surrounding those two, and if someone who is more experienced is going to want to hitch their wagon to that question, or hitch their wagon to a hot shot new OC that could either be THE shining star in the building and may come out as boy wonder. Who knows? Bottom line is, you can look at this situation and perceive instability... Some guys seem to get as many bites at the apple as they can handle, but others i'm sure are lost to oblivion long before they even get a real chance...

Pretty cool how Kliff didn’t agree with Quinn philosophically but somehow built such a stacked coaching room that all our hires are in-house promotions from the staff Kliff couldn’t be trusted to lead. Room full of flexible geniuses I guess other than ol’ Kliffy. I’m sure it’s not anything else

I've mentioned before that I'd love to see Jon Embree back here. That'd be a home run hire. Eager to see if Raih's portfolio changes, as it should.

So we need an assistant head coach.

We’re looking for an offensive guy with experience to help mentor Blough

He’s definitely available….
