KDawg I posted in another thread that Asst. GM Newmark knows about Blough as he was in Detroit as a backup QB. So maybe. Dallas won't let Wells come to DC as an OL coach as it wouldn't be a promotion according to what is being said. Another thing of interest is there are rumors that Tampa might be a landing place for McDaniel (I hope not) as it's not far from home for McDaniel to go from Miami to Tampa vs. DC Metro.Could very well be and might explain canning Bobby Johnson while keeping other staff, and bringing in Wells for an "OC" interview
It would be a real roll of the dice for DQ, ballsy (crazy) since his future rests heavily on his 2 new coordinator selections
Thanks.lol just a popular meme from around ten years ago, “hydrogen bomb vs. coughing baby”, for use when you two things are compared of extremely different quality levels lol. You posted “looks like McDaniel or Blough” and I just thought it fit
Higskin Ya know two things that standout here.
1. McDaniel, I think ends up here. After researching his history with DQ it appears that DQ helped him from alcohol abuse and straightened his life up along with coaching with him and knowing him almost like family for years.
2. Blough has established a bother like relationship with JD. With KK gone and people around the league talking about him highly as the possible next Ben Johnson. What I thought was a shot in the dark may not be.
Idk man, Keim isn’t much a click-baiting artist.
On a side note, after looking at the landscape - I’m a little concerned McDaniel could end up with another HC gig. I didn’t even realize that 25% of the league is looking for a new head coach. Phew.
You see, I want that problem. That's a great problem to have. You don't want to settle for some mediocre for the sake of consistency. The logical fallacy with Blough is, if he does kill it next year, he is probably getting a HC job somewhere else.
This is probably the most accurate thing that's been posted on the first 19 pages. We know nothing.
They don’t want the same scheme, that much is clear now from the mutual release of Kliff. Succession is great for maintaining scheme.I think the succession plan with Kliff was Tavita Pritchard. Once he got the Stanford gig, they were left a bit high and dry. Listening to Mark Bullock on Standig podcast, he complained that Quinn was very worried about having a succession plan in place for OC and now he is right back where he was in Atlanta with no OC and no legitimate heir apparent in house.
Ref Blough, I don't remember who said it, maybe someone on NFL Live but they made a good point. Every team is looking for the next assistant off the Shanahan, McVay, etc tree and hiring guys without actually knowing them but based just on that affiliation. A lot of those guys don't work out. There appears to be a lot of strong interest from Campbell and I'd imagine if KK gets a HC job, maybe there too.
If Quinn knows Blough's work can translate and promotes him as OC, then you hope he knows enough/feels what the league seems to feel about Blough
In my circle of fan friends who talk football quite a lot, that old circle of people in 2013 Redskins had gained cred by that time (McVay). So when he left there was some consternation and it was another Snyder move on not recognizing something clear. As to Blough. I am not excited or down on it, don't know. He learned under Ben Johnson and Kliff.
I do recall hardly anyone at ES was excited about McVay when he was appointed coordinator but not down on him either. But at a minimum it wasn't an exciting hire at the time. More excitement about Kyle, but it was mixed, and people were down on him fast.
I think its a bit of a roll of the dice from Quinn in an important season for him. But the upside is also big considering it would be an easier transition for Jayden and heck you look good when you find the next big coordinator.
I still prefer McDaniel but wouldn't hate Blough.
