Curious why not?
I'm not sure this is the situation he would want to come in.

Plus, he likes some tempo, too. Which, by report was an issue with Kliff. Having said that, I have a good idea. Fix the defense and that's a non-issue.

And I like Peter Graham from the Raiders (wrong thread for that discussion).

McDaniel + Graham = W

I misunderstood you--I thought you meant he wouldn't want him. I was listening to Galdi this morning--we ran no huddle ~60% of the time. The Saints were second at ~22%. That's absurd.

No huddle or hurry up?

If you are McDaniel, I think this is a real opportunity. Here is why:

- Quinn knows/loves the Shannon offensive system. He had his greatest success as a HC with Kyle as OC and McDaniel as an Offensive Assistant.
- Washington has a young, dynamic QB who has proven he can process fast and delivery accurate passes on time, who has already shown more at the pro level than Tua.
- Washington has a young, dynamic RB (Bill) who appears to be a great fit for the traditional Shannon run game.
- Washington has a solid O Line already in place.

McDaniel will likely be looking for a place he can land and show the league something in order to get back into the HC conversation. Not sure there is a better place for that than a team that was in the NFC Championship just a year ago with a kid under center who won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award just 12 months ago.

If you watched the Blind Pig from last night, you already know McDaniel is my choice so I'm a little excited that it might now be possible. I don't believe there will be a better candidate for us at OC this off season.

It looks like a very tempting opportunity, especially when you're looking at your mentor, and self proclaimed life saver, being the one who's leading the ship. Mcdaniels will have complete, autonomous control of the offensive scheme, and your former Asst GM was working in your office in 2021 when you were the OC in San Fran....

One additional thought. He will be the same boat as Kingsbury was with Miami owing him money. He reportedly has 3 years left on that contract so could take a job as an OC and make HC money.

Herein lies the rub, too.

McDaniel, even if he doesn't get a HC job this cycle, is very likely to be in the HC cycle in the next year or two again.

With Quinn and McDaniel close, I don't know that McD would take this job if Quinn is fired.

This is, again, the issue with a defensive HC.

I'm not necessarily saying we shouldn't go after Mike. He is fantastic and would make us better. But he could very well be a rental and we need to plan accordingly.

How quickly life changes! Less than 24 hours later...

I would love to get McDaniel but he's under contract until 2028. Not sure if the new GM is going to want to keep him or not. It would be a costly firing for Miami

Miami is probably going hard for Harbaugh

It creates a dilemma if he wants to immediately pursue another HC job. That means we have to wait if he is really the guy they want and risk him getting a HC job and leaving us at the back of the OC line with ‘whoever’s left’ at that point.

I soooo hope we can get McDaniel!!

Agree, I think its the price you have to pay.
