I was thinking this exact thing when people kept talking about poaching his assistants but it got me wondering about their contracts.

If flores contract expired this year wouldn't they have tried to line up his assistant coaches with his contract?

I honestly dont know but was curious if some of his assistants had their contracts expire at the same time.

Very possible, that’s an interesting point. Coach contracts are always a little more opaque to the public, especially assistants. So it’s possible some of them are free and clear currently and were waiting to see what Flores was doing, who knows

Well. It's tough, he didn't want to lie but he didn't elaborate either. He said he didn't see eye to eye and there was friction.

Any way you cut it, if you say "I don't want to talk about that" it's going to be seen as you have something negative to say. Which clearly he does.

Shrug. It could also just be two strong willed guys who didn't get along. If you asked Flores about Pettine, he might say the same thing.

My memory is that Pettine wasn't exactly a great HC either, and he was working as a position coach on the Vikings staff. Could just be sour grapes.

I don't know if that bodes extremely well for Kerrigan. Though, if he stays an assistant position coach, he might be safe.

They need to look at the secondary coaches also. I have no idea if they're good or not. They did well with Sainristil his rookie year, and Amos his rookie year, but Martin regressed, and there were other problems. Complete mixed bag, so worth keeping an eye on what they do there.

That's exactly my point, the second he said "probably not many that I'd prefer to share" we all knew he had negative things to say and thats not taking the high road.

Taking the high road would have been something along the lines of "although we have philosophical differences he's a well respected successful coach" or something of that nature, that would be vague enough to still be considered by most to be the high road.

The real high road would be saying good things and nobody who watches the interview has any idea you even have a problem with him.

It's hard to get upset about losing a defensive coach. Now, that may not actually be fair, but our defense has been awful last year and if he was the "pass game coordinator" he was in charge of a defensive backfield that was better known for being toast and leaving gaping holes than making plays.
 
There have not been any defensive staff name suggestions or rumors yet have there? I have not heard anything.

Daronte Jones worked under his father Ed when he was the Minnesota DC in 2022.

The only thing I remember is that when he was first brought on staff he received a ton of praise from the players and the line play did improve that year. Then when Quinn came in, Kerrigan was one of the only coaches kept.
