I know later there will be a draft tracker thread, but I wanted to open this up so that we can all put our heads together on where we think we are going with this off-season. Im speaking of those who were active this season. So those on IR im not including.

Lets start with cuts:

Shocking Cut: (The ones that you may not see coming)

Alfred Morris
Pierre Garcon (This one would surprise me the most)

Guaranteed Cuts: (The ones you know for sure)

Josh LeRibeus
Andre Roberts
Will Blackmon
Pierre Thomas

Retires: (Who is leaving the league all together!)

Chris Baker

Okay now on to Keeps:

Kirk Cousins (No Brainer)
Dustin Hopkins (If he can keep his accuracy up)
DeSean Jackson (Im pretty sure he is still under contract)
Jason Hatcher
Terrance Knighton

Coaches:

Cutting Joe Barry (Mr Soft Defense!)

Draft Needs:

Center
Linebacker
Corner or Safety (Can convert them either way)
Left Guard

What do y'all think?

Joe Barry's defense, with more injuries, and less talent, outperformed the offense for the majority of the season. Including yesterday.

The offense looked great against bad teams/defenses.
Less than pedestrian against decent/good defenses.

What makes you think Baker is retiring?

Top needs? 2 DE's, C

CUTS

Alfred Morris - While I'd keep him and he wasn't looking too bad yesterday until we went totally to the pass when we were playing catch up, I do think the writing has been on the wall for him for a while. Think is I'm not sure I like any of our alternatives. :/

Josh LeRibeus - Gone gone gone. And about time too. Watching that game yesterday I think our O-Line folded when Spencer long got injured and McRib came in at LG. We couldn't run to that side for toffee! And the sacks and at least one of the fumbles came when GB Defense came straight through that left hand part of the line. I think even when Long came back he was hurt, and Trent, who was having a sub par day, couldn't make up for either of them.

Arie Kouandjio - While we're on the O-Line I think Scotty will definitely draft here. There will need to be casualties. Arie may be one of them. Or maybe Spencer Long. I haven't seen much from Arie to know if he or Spencer is the best incumbent.

Andre Roberts - Gone. He hasn't been really useful at all in the time he's been here. We need an influx of young talent at WR so I think he'll be making way... with that in mind

Rashad Ross - I'd cut him too. Or maybe push him to the practice squad or something. I think Crowder has a spot on this team but Ross hasn't impressed me at all really. While we're talking receivers, I think they'll go another year with DJax and Garcon too, while searching for replacements for them.

Marcel Jenson - We'll have back much more choice at TE next year with potential returns from Paul, Paulson and Carrier possibly. The only keeper is Jordan Reed, anyone else is fair game to be gone.

To take a look at the peeps BnG mentioned....

Will Blackmon - Not sure. He's not been bad, but we need help desperately in the secondary. There will be cuts here, but I've no idea who. It'll take Training Camp to sort that out. Johnson, Everett, Phillips and Harris all are on the chopping block. Blackmon I don't know. Depends what Scotty does in the off season to patch this part of the defense up. Draft or FA.

Pierre Thomas - I quite like what I see from him sometimes. If Morris is gone maybe I could see us keeping him. But a backfield of Jones, Thompson and Thomas doesn't thrill me. I think that we have bigger areas of the team to fix this year. I'm on board with those that would prefer to put draft and FA emphasis on the D-Line and the O-Line.

Retires:

Jason Hatcher - I think maybe he'll call it a day.

Keeps:

Kirk Cousins - Agreed I hope!

Dustin Hopkins he's been a real difference maker. He's staying. :D

DeSean Jackson - I was in two minds. He's crazy good at times. But he's always injured and has brainfart moments like that almost TD yesterday and that bizarre return the other week. But he's irreplacable when he's on. His skillset won't last forever, he'll slow down eventually, and we need a replacement at that position. But not next year.

Jason Hatcher - Not totally sure on this one. I think we may see turn over on the D-Line.... Hatcher may be one who is gone. But i'm keeping him around at the moment. He's been contemplating retirements anyway...

Terrance Knighton - Staying. He's a good locker room man, we need that kind of presence on the team.

Coaches:

I think the coaching staff stays as is. The juries out for me on Barry. Lets give him some proper toys to play with next year without the baling wire and ducktape.

Draft:

Center (Desperately!!!)
Left Guard (Almost as Desperately!!!!!)
Cornerback

And additionally if we have the picks, I'd see if I could grab a late rounds WR or RB to take a stab at.

What do y'all think?

Morris is a UFA. That really would be a shocking cut... ;)

Big Swaggy is in his late 20's. Why would he retire?

Nick

Morris isn't coming back. I think that's been pretty obvious for awhile now.

Edited my post. I meant Hatcher and said Baker about retirement. I blame BnG! :p

Read an article this morning saying he's thinking about it but Scotty said he wanted him back next year. He's going to pray on it but will make the decision quickly he said. :)

Morris is gone. No question about it.

I don't want to hear any more nonsense about drafting a WR in the first. After that game, it should be evident to everyone that our top three needs are OLine, DLine and Secondary. We need protection for Kirk, and we need to hit the other QB faster and harder. Period. I will be unbelievably disappointed in Scot if we chase a WR in round one. Shore up those lines.

He's been mishandled from the day we drafted him.
I expect when and how we finally release him to be no less of a cluster****.
I also hope it doesn't cost us more than it already has.

As long as he stays out of the NFC East. I dont care where he goes.

I was taking that one as a given. The sooner we can get him in a Dallass uni, the better. If that doesn't happen, I'll gladly accept any non-Skins uni available.

I'd be surprised at Robert goes to dalLast if he want's to start.
With as much dead money on romo's contract as there is clownboys are pretty stuck with him for two years. if he restructures they'll still be well in debt to the cap.

This year? He's on the cap @ $25M but $32M in dead money.

If RG III want's to start, Houston is a much better opportunity. Or the Rams. Gee, how would that go over? Rams get Griffin & all those draft picks.

Rams under Jeff Fisher have been a juggernaut with all those draft picks, haven't they? :)

Too bad he is even a worse coach for developing quarterbacks than Rex Ryan.

Nick Foles was at the bottom of the heap in 2015 in the NFC.

With all of those picks and last place finishes Fisher should have a Seattle-like budding dynasty on his hands.

So if at 21 the best player Scott thinks is available is a WR we should pass on him?

Yes. I suppose if he is head and shoulders above everyone else at that slot, then we should consider taking them. But if we are at 21 and there is a WR who grades slightly higher than the G also left on the board, I hope to God we take the G.

Look, McCloughan if he is the GM we think he is, is going to view the draft board and try and get 'value'.

If that means a wide receiver is the best player available and he really wants a DL rated a couple of spots lower, then he will deal the pick to move down a bit and pick up more ammunition in the middle rounds along with the DL prospect he wanted anyway.

What we saw here under Cerrato and later Allen, where our moves were almost telegraphed to other teams and our trades always ended up in our giving up too much for what we received in return, is done.

One thing I will say about wide receiver. While DeSean Jackson stretches defenses as well as anyone else in the league, he is small guy that tends to miss time.

Given that, a 'championship' team would most likely have a guy like Jackson as the #2 receiver with a big, tall, strong 6'2 or 6'3 receiver on the other side as the #1; a player that is more durable and consistent and likely to move the sticks on 3rd and 6.

In turn that would only make Jackson that much more effective on the other side.

And we don't have that right now in Garçon right now? Or Reed, for that matter?

1) d-line

2) secondary

3) back-up/development QB

4) red zone wr

5) rb

Just to come back to the WR thing...NE has been proving for years that with a great pass catching TE you don't necessarily have to have big WR's on the outside. Garçon is better than any big WR they have had since Moss and I don't see much in the way of issues up there. Granted, Garçon has a big cap number this year but I expect that to be re-negotiated if he is kept.

I think the lines are still the priority. If I am drafting for this team (and I'm obviously not) I am looking at the following priorites: Defensive Line, Secondary, Offensive Line, Tight End

Are the same ones that want Arie cut the same that wanted Moses cut?
