Cuts, Keeps, Coaches, and Draft!

I sincerely apologize for not having the offseason edition of BBQ ready this morning. I should've known that the morning after the season is over that posting a mock draft, a FA report, the weekly grades, the yearly grades, and the BBQ self evaluation of season predictions was mandatory.

It's starting to become obvious that BBQ is no longer effective and does not represent BGO members any longer. I'm thinking that this is the last week for it. I'll decide by next Monday.

BB, I enjoy and appreciate all that you do. I don't have the time or talent to do all the things you bring to the table. If back away I understand, but will continue to follow you on twitter and other places.

Not stalking. Just following. :)

Cheers.

BB you and your BBQ is pretty much what I read to get my info on the upcoming week.

I dont have the knowledge about college football or upcoming players to give any kind of say. I simply wait for the draft, see our picks, then look at them. I'm no where near the talent level to see deeper into what stories I read on BR, Espn, or CSN Washington.

Dont give up.

Morris isn't coming back. I think that's been pretty obvious for awhile now.

Wouldn't be shocked if D. Young ends up elsewhere too. Figure there's good odds we take a RB somewhere in the mid rounds.

I would seriously look at TW as the center. Dude would be the nastiest one in the league. Let Kilimanjaro & Lava battle for LG, with a high draft pick or Nsekhe taking over LT.

BT Andrew Billings out of Baylor maybe a good pickup if there at 21

Darrel Young is likely to stay. He's a special teams ace. That is why you keep him and why he is still on the roster.

Mike Shanahan is inching closer to being coach of the 49ers. It's to him and Chip Kelly. So, this must said and asked.

We know Sham like Cousins. Let's say we tag Cousin Kirk as a deal didn't get done by the time FA arrived. Then Sham offers Kirk a contract. We have one week to match or let him go.

Do we match? Or do we take the two first rounders?

This ought to be good.

After seeing the Rams enjoy our bounty of picks for Griffin, I say we... keep Kirk. Not completely sure that Kirk is an elite QB, but I sure as hell am not sure he isn't either. And we have a potentially elite QB on our hands, we better be pretty damned sure what we have before we take risks with the draft, which is a complete crapshoot.

Ideally, I would love to see another one year deal. That will not happen, so give him a Tannehill style deal that allows us to get out relatively painlessly if he craps out. Either way, I'd rather have the guy who took us to the playoffs this year than the unknown that the draft provides.

Very interesting question. I guess it comes down to how close do people think this team is to really contending. If you still believe we're a year or 2 away, then getting 2 1sts would be really nice. Especially for McCloughan.

Great conversation. Lasted about six minutes. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
