Confirmed Signings

For the Jets Asomugha could mean getting over the hump.

For the 49ers the question to ask is why?

SF isn't one CB away from being a contender in the NFC.

Toss around the names Josh Wilson, Barry Cofield, Chris Chester, and Stephen Bowen and your casual football fan will respond with "who?"

That in and of itself is a sign that we are miles ahead of where we were even two years ago in terms of our approach to building a quality team.

I'm personally liking the approach of building brick by brick, as opposed to trying to put a roof on a structure that hasn't even been put up.

Ultimately, it might not translate into success this year and the media will continue to snicker and state that Dan is simply tossing around money. However, putting pieces in place and having a little "Luck" on our side next April, and I think we might finally be headed towards the road called success within the next three years.

if the Redskins had a starting qb with experience these moves in context could make for a very interesting 2011 season.

with Beck one has to hope for a Trent Green type emergence from the bench to the starting lineup. Remember Green was a backup in San Diego and Washington for 5 years before he actually got a chance to start an NFL game.

He went on to make the pro bowl 3 or 4 times between 1999-2006.

I'm about the least knowledgeable person here, so if we were looking for DE, as we were with Jenkins, why doesn't he fit ?

Look at the size difference between Osi and Cullen. Osi is 6-3 261, he would need to gain a little weight or he would be tossed around like a rag doll in the 3-4. I am pretty sure Osi is mostly speed like Dwight Freeney. Not enough power to play DE in the 3-4. Cullen Jenkins is 6-2 305.

Although right before I came here, I saw the Ravens are interested in him.

Thanks, I understand where you're commin from now.

Cullen Jenkins to me is one of those free agents you want to stay away from.

His value is high because Green Bay won the Super Bowl and he is cashing in on the ring.

But one has to consider his age, 30, and the fact he has been unable to play 16 games during his career.

My guess is a team signing Jenkins now will have a bad case of buyer's remorse in 1-2 years.

I've seen what you say as a common thread in a few articles, age and injuries.

Tampa Bay just entered the Asomugha sweepstakes. Apparently, the offer is absolutely astounding.

I just don't see how the Jets reel him in. Talk this morning had the best offer they could make something like 4 million a year less than others on the table - not to mention that's 4 million less in the most expensive part of the country.

I think the J-E-T-S overestimate just how attractive their offer can possibly be...

For those who are concerned about Rex not signing yet...

He is a FA and under these crazy rules, will not be able to report until Aug. 4. That is why there is no hurry to get a deal done. There are other needs/priorities that warrant atttention. He will sign when the time comes.

Wonder if we'll see any tampering charges with Philly and Vince Young.

No holdouts. Another positive for Washington vis a vis a lot of other clubs.

Phillip Buchanon switches agents for the second time today. With Rosenhaus now.

Jets should spend that money on the other side of the ball.

Going to catch a nap in my lounge chair. Be back in two or three hours.

Nighters to those who will call it a day soon.
