Coaching staff thread

That would be my hang-up on Kingsbury. Though, it would be from an experience from years ago. I was 'encouraged' by a HC I had been working with to run the Air Raid style offense. Hell, he bought the package and we went to camps and blah blah blah. Very defined type of players needed for that style of offense and I can see it when I watch some of those old Cardinals games (gotta love NFL+)

Mind you, he has adapted as has the offense over the years....but boy I was not a fan and kept tinkering with its base to get it to be consistent and adaptable to various factors. My first thought about that offense is I am highly dependent on my players making athletic plays for big success which made it difficult for consistent play calling. Mind you, a ton of factors go into that, but it was not my cup of tea. This was a me thing, not a system thing.
 
Peyton Manning for OC. Okay, maybe not but he did pretty much call his own plays in that sugar huddle.
 
Has Manning expressed an interest to get into coaching?
 
I have no idea. Just stumbled onto the pro bowl and Manning was calling plays.
 
From what I am reading here Bobby Slowik would never have had the chance to work with CJ Stroud or guys like Nico Collins in 2023 as OC 🙃

Too young, too inexperienced, doesn’t have a ring as a quality control assistant or whatever on a Super Bowl team like the Chiefs, etc.

To me having rings is irrelevant unless you are a coach making a major contribution to winning coming from that organization.

I agree with Boone that coaches need personnel to be successful.

We found out what Josh McDaniels and Nathaniel Hackett were able to do (or not do) without Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

There are situations on the other hand where there IS solid personnel on a team but the coach - OC fails to develop a scheme where those players are going to perform at their best.

And if a coach is involved in personnel they may have good ideas but whiffed on the decisions to bring in credible playmakers.

I think Kingsbury is creative and an active offensive mind who can help the right players develop.

The problem? Kingsbury is not a personnel guru. He was a singular failure in assembling a team and in particular an offensive unit with the right mix of talent and ability.

The results were mediocre. Surprise.

In Washington though we are looking for an assistant coach only. Not s head coach or someone to go shopping for the groceries.

If Washington and Peters brings in solid talent for him to work with I think he will help produce solid results.

If you had told me 3 weeks ago our coaches would be Quinn and Kingsbury I would have taken $100 bet you were bound to be wrong 😑
 
Is Joe Whitt Jr. official as the DC or is that still just a rumor?
 
How nice would it be if Quinn could come out tomorrow during his press conference and have both the OC and DC lined up and in place. That would make A LOT of sense. Hopefully Whitt will be confirmed before 2:30 tomorrow.
 
QBs coach will also be a big one. And Special Teams....

I really am concerned if this is the direction... but the dots are connecting themselves.

Snyder finally sells, new ownership, local "messiah" first overall QB leads the franchise into the new era of Washington football...

As an owner, that has to sound appealing to Harris.

As a fan living with major heartache and PTSD, I want to hide in the corner.
